Disc 2 tips & secrets
If you're like me, you like to find lots of secret stuff in rpgs, for one or more of the following reasons: 1-They help you advance easier, 2-Just for the sake of finding them, 3-To show off, and impress your friends, or 4-To laugh at other people who haven't found them. No matter which one(s) apply to you, you just like secrets, and maybe a little tip here and there, just to avoid some annoyance. Here are some tips and secrets that I have found in Xenogears. And, same as the RPG rules, if you have any tips or secrets that you would like to contribute, drop me a line at There are quite a few secrets in Lahan Village, here are a couple:
While swimming with Bart, climb the pole into the restaurant tank. You can get a gold nugget from the chest inside there.
While trying to rescue Margie, run into the kitchen. Hanging on the ceiling are three things of meat, and if you jump at them, you can get them.
In Kislev, after you become the battling champion, go to the residential district. Find Big Joe, who is standing in front of an alley. Pay him the 5000 Gs, and get tricked. Later, find him on the larger map of Kislev, and talk to him. He will say that there is something interesting in the alley. Search the alley, and you will find an M Disk. You can also get one by battling.
On the Thames, there are some things to do, here they are:
When the Yggdrasil is docked on the Thames, Big Joe will at sometime appear on the top, near the entrance portal. Say that you are interrupting his "amore time", and he will challenge you to the card game. Beat him to recieve the Long Dark Coat, which is a very cool and useful accessory to equip.
At the orphanage, there is a few thing that you can do as well. Here are the ones i found.
In Shevat, there is a magician that some of the residents talk about. He hid three special rocks that can be used to find his secret room. Here is the clues to each rock, and their location:
After the Yggdrasil can fly, return to Kislev. You can now do a battling game, similar to the one in Final Fantasy 7, but you keep your points if you leave. You can buy strange items, including the Fei Jr. Doll, Bill Jr. Doll, and Bart Jr. Doll (where's the Citan Voodoo, er, I mean Jr. Doll?). These are cool worthless items, but you can sell them for 30000 G if you want to
Jump down the well. Seriously, do it! You will get an eyeball. Not anything to write home about, but the extra 200 G for not doing anything isn't anything to shrug off, either.
Jump up and down beneath the spider web near where Fei starts the game. You will recieve the Spider Web, which comes into play a lot later.
Also, the two barrels in front of the spider web each contain an aquasol.
Talk to the drunk guy near the back of the bar. He will want to fight you, but tell him that drinking doesn't solve any problems. After a few seconds, he will give you the mermaid's tear. This has no use as of yet, but at the end of the game, the man's father points out that you have one. Addition: If you bring grown-up Emeralda to the man, he will make a MERMAID RING out of it.
Talk to the village consultant. Ask about pretty much anything, and he will give you 80 G for listening.
Don't talk to Lucca!!!! It's easy enough to figure out how to save, and she will take Gs just for wasting her time.
On the salvage deck, there are four treasures to find. One you need to walk along the tops of crates for. Another is found by jumping on top of some crane cargoes. The third is hidden low in a small room, behind some boxes. The fourth is found by jumping and hitting the bottom of some crane cargoes.
You can play three different people in the card game that you are taught. One of those people is the one who teaches you. You don't get anything all that good, but you need the practice to beat Big Joe.
Help the kid get the chickens into the fence. He will give you the tag badge (use unknows).
To get book one, read the kid a story (I'm pretty sure).
To get book two, you need to go into the bathroom. As you try to, a kid will barge out and hand you the comic book. Read the description for a quick laugh.
To get book three, you need Rico in the party. Talk to the kid with the bell, and a scene will unfold, at the end, he will give you book 3.
Put the books in the bookshelf that Billy comes out of. You can do this only after he has joined the party. This will open a secret room, where Billy can get his father's old gun.
Also, you can examine the toilet, and try to flush it. Elly will not touch the thing, and if you come back later, Billy will get the item, but it's dirty, so he puts it back. Now the toilet flushes like a dream. This doesn't do anything that I noticed, but it's interesting.
Dusk Rock
Song Clue: Everyone has a home. (Where Maria goes to mope about her father.)
Chu Chu Clue: Held in the arms of a child.
Location: In the ruined house (the one with the rocking horse), on the downstairs table there is a doll. Examine it. In its arms, you will find the Dusk Rock.
Dawn Rock
Song Clue: We are all just a little part of the world.
Chu Chu Clue: The angel watching over the horizon.
Location: If you know what the statues of the woman are, this one is pretty easy, but took me the longest to get. Leave the residential area of Shevat, and find the palace entrance (it's the large statue of the woman), and this is the angel. Face her, and walk directly backwards, onto the little connector of the middle area of Shevat to the outer ring. Examine at the end of the connector to find the Dawn Rock.
Dark Rock
Song Clue: Something about the sea, I think (so long ago, I don't remember, sorry!)
Chu Chu Clue: The dark was swallowed up by the sea creature.
Location: You must fish in the fountain, and catch a fish. This is where the spider web comes in handy. And, you can always buy more outside the fountain. It's pretty much random when you catch the fish with the rock, but stick at it!
With the rocks, go to the seemingly broken transporter tile, and it will automatically take you to the wizard's den. Inside, you will find a load of items, including the Chu Chu Idol (Chu Chu can equip it, but use unknown), Power Crisis, Yamato Belt, and some Drives. Definitely worth it!
