An Interview with Dove from the 1997 Beat On the Street.: TOTALLY EXCLUSIVE
ANother TOTALLY EXCLUSIVE Dove interview, : April 1998, in Galway.

Who ARE Dove???

Dove are, (L->R) Donald Ade, Hazel Kaneswaren, and Graham Cruz, and
prepare for them to take over the charts!!!!

Their new single is called "Don't Dream", and it should hit the shops
sometime in late August. This song is a cover of the Crowded House
classic "Don't Dream Its over" , but be not illusioned that this is
the first single from Dove!!
They go back a long way in the Irish Pop Scene!!!

It all started back in 1997 when Graham Cruz, a dance cheoreographer
in Digges Lane, who had brought Pop stars from Nobodies to Top Of the
Pops, decided to get a band together. He knew of Hazel, and Lorna
(who has since left the band) and together they found Don---on the
street!! No, don't worry, its not as bad as that sounds!! Lorna met
him one day on the Street, and she knew him from before, and got
talking about Dove. Don decided to have a look in, and became the

final member of the band!!

In the beginning, Dove were known as " Dubh" which sounds the same but
is the Irish For Black. As they were all Black, and Irish, it made
perfect sense as a band name. But as things went further along, it
was realised that not everyone could pronounce DUBH, and the band
name was changed to the more user friendly " DOVE".

The Summer of '97 saw Dove release their first single --" Just An
Illusion" which did very well in the Irish Charts. To co-incide with
this, Dove toured Ireland with the 2fm Beat On the Street.
(An interview from one of these concerts can be found on this page)

This single was followed by "Night To Remember", which rocketed into
the Irish Top 30. Around the same time, Dove played a HUGE part in the
Olympia Theatre's pantomime, " ROCKINSON CRUSOE". This, along with
the self penned third single from Dove " Blow Your Mind" really
made people sit up and take notice. This single made it to the Top 20,
and Dove were slowly but surely becoming a household name.

March 1999 saw the release of " Don't Dream" and this was the ONE that
made it for Dove. " Don't Dream" made it to the Top 10, and stayed
there for a few weeks.

Many negotiations and meetings later, it was revealed in June that
Dove had secured a record deal with Ztt records in the Uk. This meant
that Hazel could finally give up her job in Thermo King as a
"temperature controller" (fridge maker!!!!!). Around the same time,
they performed to a crowd of 40,000 in the Rds as support to
Boyzone, and this gained them more fans!!!!

Keep your eyes and ears out for Dove --as they will be in a place
near you SOON!!!! (and if they are, go down and see them--they are
three of the Lovliest people you could ever meet!!!)
