He followed me home!

When my first husband was just a very, very small child, he came home with a puppy.  He asked his mom if he could keep him because he followed him home. She had a real problem with this and said no. Her reason?  Les had a rope tied around the puppy's neck dragging him along and the puppy was fighting it all the way.

He never outgrew his love for dogs and used to bring strays in all the time.  Once someone had dumped off five dogs who were closer to death than a corpse. He nurtured them back to a healthy life and gave them to good families.

He was the same with people. I never did know if I'd wake to find another dog or a stranger at our table. He had a good heart and gave more love than he probably ever received.
