First, let me preface this page by stating that I am a christian.
The doctrines taught by Bob Jones may be the same
as mine - but the methods used by them are what set them apart
as a dangerous and sometimes hurtful to the purpose of furthering
christianity. I ask that you take the principles that the Bible
teaches an truthfully look at the things these groups may be
pushing on you and others.
"Behold I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless
as doves. But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in
their synagogues." (Matt.10:16-17)
Bob Jones is a university located in Greenville SC. It is one of the
best known and contraversial schools in the US (as far as religion).
The school states that is is a "non demoninational" school, but
supports local independent baptist churches and teaches the problems
with other religions - even Southern Baptists ( which most people
equate with the most fundamental of all branches ).
Thus it may be stated that the followers / believers of the Bob Jones
doctrine may be called "Bob Jones" when asked what their denomination is.
While they may avidly state that such a classification is not true;
to others in the area that may try to "work" in the church, it is
well known that only "Bob Jones'ers" are accepted.
UPDATE: 1/06/2000 - In a show of Bob Jones strength in Greenville - An advisory board consisting of 60% Bob Jones followers have moved that the "...moral codes and standards be set by the group...". While many have opposed this - the members state that it is their duty to do this. A Bob Jones graduate confirmed that this is normal - and that its members are encouraged to "serve". This actually means that the groups views will be perpetuated..... more to come ...

Or you can email me at ja_harris@yahoo.com for a list of churches. It doesnt matter to me what church you choose - i have no hidden agenda - just a need to help people free themselves from the hold the group has over people and the furtherance of Jesus. The church you turn to for help may be Baptist, Methodist, etc. Also, if you feel that you may be physically held against your will, contact your local poclice department and voice your concerns. Im sure that your needs will be taken into account an a non-Bob Jones officer will be given your case.
