March 18th, 2000:
This is where I'm going to place some of the photographs which will be entered in the contest along with others I receive between now and July 4th. All the photos received will eventually be placed in albums at my online PhotoPoint site. There you will be able to click on a thumbnail photo and get an enlargement along with information about that photo entry.
Here, due to space limitations and page loading time, I will simply post a few photographs and change them periodically.
I'm hoping to receive LOTS of photos, showing different angles, skies,
moods, and times of day. I also hope to receive shots of the individual
pieces and small groupings, in addition to shots showing the entire work.
It would also be great to get shots with something or someone in the foreground
that shows us the immense size perspective of these huge works of art--a
shot of your family standing underneath a horse, etc. Granted, such snaps
might not have much chance in the contest, but they would help convey a
feeling for the immensity
of the piece to those of us who won't be able to see it in person for a
while.
So get out the cameras, dust off the lenses, and start shooting. Just think how much weight you'll appear to have lost standing up against one of those colossal cowboys.
Happy shooting!
JP

Here are some shots received from Brian 3/31/00. These will later be moved to my PhotoPoint albums.

Isn't this a nice shot? They look normal size when there's nothing
in the picture to compare them to, don't they?

Brian took this from the back side, to get the great clouds and
to show
the pipe frames. I lightened it considerably (next photo) to show the pipe
frames better, but lost the clouds in doing so.
