RUTHIE HENSHALL
Ruthie Henshall is the Queen of Musical Theatre. She is total talent and has landed such roles in Theatre.
Her Theatre Debuet was as Avril in 'The Children of Eden' and was also the understudy role for Francess Rufelle.
Ruthie was then spotted in 'A Chorus Line' playing Maggie and was then taken to 'Cats' playing a whole litter of Cats!! These roles also gave her the opportunity to play Grizabella which gave her the haunting song,'Memory'. Ruthie then went on th play a bar girl first in 1989 and then Ellen in 1990 in the Hit Musical, Miss Saigon.
In 1992, Ruthie played Fanting in Les Miserbles and sung the role in the much adored star stunned cast concert of the tenth Anniversary Les Miserables Concert.
It was after Les Miserables in which Ruthie Henshall started to become into public eye when she originated the role of Polly in the Gershwin Hit Musical,'Crazy For You'. Ruthie then played Amalia Balash in 'She Loves Me!' with her love, John Gordon Sinclair (Gregory's Girl) After her run in this musical, she went to Toronto, Canada to re-create Polly in 'Crazy For You' with Mickey Rooney. She then returned in 1996 and played Nancy in 'Oliver' at the Palladium. Ruthie after this, went on her first National Concert tour in which she sung songs from the shows she has stared and old MGM musicals she loves. The first part of the concert was dedicated to MGM musicals and artists that have encouraged her along the way. The second half was dedicated to her career.
Ruthie opened in 'Chicago' at the Adelphi Theatre, London in November 1997 playing Roxie Hart with Ute Lemper(replaced by Nicola Hughes) until late November, 1998 in which Ruthie goes to Broadway to continue her role and to perform again with Ute Lemper.
