History:
Blackhead (Antrim) marks the northern extremity of Belfast Lough.

The octagonal tower was designed by
William Douglass, Engineer to the Commissioners of Irish Lights, and completed in 1902.

The light was converted to electric in 1969 and automated in 1975.
