Mama Gail Always Watching Over Her Baby JJ

This web site is to keep family and friends updated on Jason's progress. We are hoping to update it daily.

Jason (15) is a student at Lakewood High School and a former student of Granville Jr. High School. He is also a Cleveland Browns fan. Jason was in a car accident on Thursday, January 2, 2003. He was taken to Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH in critical condition with head trauma and was unconscious. Jason needs all the prayers he can get to help him recover.

Please leave messages in his guest book at the bottom of this site.

UPDATES

Monday, June 23, 2003: I'm sorry I haven't updated in a while. But, as everyone knows, we get on with our own lives. On June 6th, I went to Lakewood High so we could make up Jason's IEP for next year. We all decided he has done so well in the last two months of school, that we will wait until Aug 21st - they will test him, and we'll have a better picture of where he is at that time. I think he will be able to handle going to school all day next year. I have asked that they give him some work over the summer - he can't stay idle. He needs to keep his mind occupied. They are working on something. Jason is doing great!!! I took him to Children's Hosp on Friday, June 13th for his rehab follow-up. The therapist's did some testing and were so thrilled at his progress. They had tears in their eyes - they said this is the best part of their jobs. Dr. Batly was amazed. He had some restrictions that were lifted - he can now go bowling, riding his bike (as long as it is a safe environment and he wears a helmet) and he can hunt as long as he has an adult with him at all times. He has other restrictions - but, these were the ones that are most important to him. The speech therapist talked to him and in the middle of her lesson - she gave him three words to remember (roses, shoes and hamburgers) and at the end of the lesson she asked him what the three words were - he rattled them off like it was nothing - I, on the other hand, had forgotten one of the words. I sometimes wonder who is worse - Jason or myself. He no longer has to take physical therapy (he was taking it twice a week in school and twice out of school). He would like to go to the YMCA once in a while, tho. He, also, no longer needs 24 hour care.
