Roy Jones, Jr.: Talent from God

Roy Jones, Jr., WBA/WBC lightheavyweight champion who has just succeded to get the victory against Lou Del Valle by unanimous decision (New York City, July 17, 1998), stated that he has not thought about jumping to the heavyweights. His coming project is to unify the lightheavyweights belts.

Born in Pensacola, FL. on January 16, 1969, Roy Jones Jr. has shown the best ability he has in the boxing world. This amateur 1986's Golden Gloves Jr. Welterweight gold medalist and 1988's Seoul Olympic Silver Medalist learned boxing skills from his father, Roy Jones Sr., who owns a boxing gym in his hometown, Pensacola, FL.

Jones, son of happy couple Roy and Carol, said that he loves boxing because God blessed him with talent, and the fans plus the tight competition have motivated him to be the best.

Roy Jones, owner pro records of 38 fights; 37+ (31 KO), 1-, graduated from Washington High in Pensacola (1987) and Pensacolla Junior College, is known as one of a few educated boxers. He always combines intelligence, speed, power and gut in the ring.
