While waiting for the real fight, both de la Hoya and Trinidad will do their ‘warming up’ fights. de la Hoya will fight Oba Carr May 22, while Trinidad will fight Raul Frank on May 29. It is very obvious both kings de la Hoya and Trinidad really compete one another.
It is predicted both de la Hoya and Trinidad will win in their fights. de la Hoya will fight a tougher opponent, Carr who was only lost twice (by Trinidad and Quartey) in his 48 fights, and Trinidad will fight a UFO (Unidentified Fighting Object), Raul Frank. Frank is replacing the IBF No. 1 contender Vincent Pettway who resigned due to his injury.
If both win their fights, and the negotiation to show Oscar de la Hoya vs Felix Trinidad succeeds, this is gonna be the biggest rumble in 1999. Both fighters have similar technique and skill. TO make an early prediction, in my opinion, de la Hoya has a better opportunity to win the fight.
de la Hoya has more complete punches than Trinidad and his jabs are excellent, while Trinidad’s most dangerous punch is his right straight. Very fast, accurate and powerful. de la Hoya should activate his jabs to avoid Trinidad coming inside and having the chance to throw his dangerous straights and right hooks. On the other hand, Trinidad must be able to insist Oscar to fight toe to toe, and if it happens, nothing to say, Trinidad will win by a KO!

WELTERWEIGHT: THE BATTLES CONTINUE
We have known the results of the "semi finals" of the welterweight. Oscar de la Hoya won by split decision against Ike Quartey, and Felix Trinidad won by unanimous decision against Pernell Whitaker. The tough negotiation to show the "Real Final of the Welterweight" is still done by Don King and Bob Arum. It seems not to be so easy to make this dream fight real.
