Without a doubt the most beautiful song ever written. He knows who she is - but in a way he doesn't. Afterall, it seems as if he had only seen her in his dreams, but he is so sure that she is real that he loves her anyway. "So Colorado is the place I have to go" - he knows where to find her even though he doesn't know her. I think that the "dark angel" he's singing about is some kind of comfort for him, a solace.
