My name is mike, and my best friend has a 95 RAM 2500 with a V10, and is having problems with the front end..... upon breaking and with the slightest roughness in the road the front end rattles out of control. to the point where he has to stop the vehicle to regain control. The best he could describe it to me was " It's like riding with two flat front tires...." and he has had it back to the dealer with no luck in fixing it..... we are trying to see if any one else has the same problems.... Please drop me a note if you have any comments ideas or suggestions on this one...

They replaced the lifters at 1900 miles. Replaced the motor ( short block ) at 2114 miles. The wind blows through both doors. I suspect the cab door opening are out of spec. This is just to mention a few. I would like to know if anyone has a master plan for customers with bad products to get any satification. I am pissed that I have to rent a car, also. I give speeches at Toastmasters Clubs. I have a nice one about the truck. So far, I have kept 3 & maybe 4 people from buying a Chrysler product. On the low end, I fugure I have cost Chrysler $45,000. If #4 goes my way it will be $60,000. I am not done yet.

(1)rear view mirror defective (glass not flat at edges, making white light at night time look blue & red. 2)Loose guts inside catalytic converter, bad buzzing noise, failed at 49,900 mi. 3)Windshield cracked on drivers side due to pressure of door corner. 4)Factory undercoating not hardening, and engine heat and road heat combine to make the stuff run back down the frame rails, etc. Also, driving in snow/salt/sand on highway in winter "sandblasted" the coating off on low spots on the frame. 5)Rear main oil seal leak &replacement. 6)Engine accessory belt pulley was bent, had a bad wobble , was replaced. 7)Oil dip stick tube had to resealed due to an oil leak. 8)Sun visor plastic clips continue to break on a regular basis. 9)Gas tank, rear retaining strap was not properly installed, and the spade piece at the end of the strap was only hooked on and holding in the top of the slot by 1/2 the thickness of the strap. 10)Rubber gasket under hood at rear of engine compartment that seals against under side of hood continually falls off ,letting hot engine compartment air get drawn in through the vent system. 11)Intermittent "check engine light" and accompanying major power loss - this was supposedly caused by the oxygen sensor wire grounding on the trans. 12)Steering column replaced at 10,000 miles, needs it again at 50,000. Other than that, I really like my truck. I dont like the way the dealer treats you like you are an idiot, doesnt know the product.

Hi,I've been looking for something like this to state my situation. I guess I've always hoped that my truck was a unique situation since I paid 26,200 for my 96 2500 club cab 4x4 slt. I ordered the v10, 5speed transmission and standard gears (3.55 or 3.54 I get them confused). Now that you know what I bought now let me tell you what I had to deal with. When my truck came in I did what I thought was a thorough inspection of the exterior and intrior. I signed the paperwork and drove away. We stopped for a burger on the way home and I extend the cup holder and set my drink in it. When I got home I removed my drink and noticed that the cupholder assembly was loose. I took a close look and noticed one of the screws holding the assembly in place was dangling. I got a screwdriver and attempted to secure it. Didn't happen. Took the truck to the dealership the next day and they said make an appointment. I could not believe I had just bought a very expensive truck and I have to make an appointment for something they should have found in the first place. Well I knew we were in for a rough relationship. I took it back and they finally secured the cupholder. A few weeks later the truck starts to squeak on the driver side door. It was making a very loud annoying sound. So off to the dealership I go again. They take the truck, give me a loaner (a buick skylark) and make their first attempt to fix the noise. In the process of trying to fix the noise problem they end up braking the plastic cover that goes between the dash and the roof on the driver's side. So now I'm driving this truck with all sorts of wires exposed. The part comes in, they replace it and again claim to have fixed the squeaks. I took it back again a third time and they sprayed some silicon lubricant on the drivers side seal and the noise went away for a few days. Someone told me they had a noise problem similar to mine and they used vaseline on the seal and the noise went away. I tried it and it worked. Now about four months later the noise is coming back so I need to put more vaseline on it. I guess as long as I own this truck I'm going to have to keep a jar of vaseline handy. Well then a new noise problem develops, now it's the dash board making all sorts of noise at the slightest sign of a bump in the road. I'll try to locate this one myself. I know I have just as much a chance as they do. On top of the noise problems, now I've got a vibration in the truck. At about 40 mph it starts a serious vibration. It smooths out a bit and then starts getting a bit more intense above 60mph. I took it to the dealership and they said that three out of my four tires are out of round. I thought that to be kind of strange since I've only got 4k miles on the truck and have not been beating the truck up. So they send me to the tire dealership so they can take a look. After talking to the manager at the tire place I found out they have had another dodge p/u with the same problem and all it needed was a balancing and front end alignment. My problems seem minor compared to yours but they should not be there on such an expensive vehicle with less than 5k miles. You said you had to spend your own money and your p/u has been in a shop for a long time, you should try to see if the lemon law applies to you. I know the laws are diffrent in every state but it's worth a shot.

Jim, Boy am I glad to have seen your web page! I can relate to your problems. I bought 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 on January 31, 1996. Since then I have had to take it back for service 5 times. My truck's problems have not been as serious as yours except for 1. The intermediate steering shaft had to be replaced but everything else was minor. It had a problem idling during the first 1500 miles(it finally idle off so I took it in), the temperature control knob became uncomfortably stiff to turn, and my latest problem consists of not receiving any FM band stations at all! The most annoying part of the minor problems was having to take the truck back and forth because the parts were supposedly on national backorder. This latest problem has forced me to go to the General Manager of the locale dealership here in Raleigh, NC. I of course had no problems dealing with him and the service department is has treated me with the utmost delicacy so far. Regardless, I am very disappointed in the fact that my truck, that is costing me $436 per month has cost me approximately 12 hours of lost time at work. I work for quite a bit more than peanuts!!! I SYMPATHIZE!!!

I too am having problems with my dodge brakes. First it was the rear brakes out of round (they ground the drums), then it was the front brakes pulsing (they are grinding the disks now). The emergency brake doesn't engage either. The brake specialist at Capitol Dodge in San Jose told me this morning that the brake system came from Chevy. David

I read your dreadful story and I am glad I didn't buy the Ram I was looking at. From the first glance I noted some minor flaws when I went to see it at the dealer. I don't mean to rub it in, but I ended up buying a Ford truck and it has been problem free since! (17,000 miles in 6 months) I've been back to the dealer for maintenance and you could not ask for more courtesy. (no pun intended, but the dealer is named Courtesy Ford) Hey! Don't give up yet! Maybe all the problems will be resolved. A truck lover,

Have a 94 2500. Box has been rewelded. Shipping scratches. Steering problems partially corrected with a TSB. Bug shield made power mirrors vibrate. Right power mirror wire came disconnected. Brakes beginning to squeek. Air vent control knob broke. Air conditioning vent changes from bi-level to defrost on its own...dealer can't find the problem. Made numerous complaints to regional service representative who was a real A. hole. Everyone at the dealer ship runs when they see me coming. Your right. We shouldn't have to put up with this crap for $25,000.

i have had a dodge pu for the past 2 years and it is the best truck i ever had. it is not fair to give a product a bad name and ruin its reputation and resale value, just because you had some problems.
