The world is the way it is by design. Life from the one celled animal is too diverse to have evolved without the direction of some Universal Intelligence, which performed the creation of the human body. My contention is that there is reasonable evidence for the intelligent design from the very complexity of our physical being. Having side that, it seems if this is true there should be some human inspired record of how this creation was accomplished. There just so happened to be such a record of divine origin, we call it the Holy Bible.
This record begins with one sweeping statement. "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was with out form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light; and there was light." Since these words were recorded we have learned there are many celestial bodies exiting in the depths of space. Our earth is but a speck of dust in a solar system of one of the many galaxies that populate the universe.
Upon the second day the earth was prepared for the miracle of the first order of life to appear. On the third day we learn that the biological evolution of the plants and vegetation that covers the earth takes place in all its complexities.
On the forth day the Sun, Moon and the planets were set up to be for SIGNS and for seasons and for days and years. It is significant that the planets, Sun and Moon were set up for SIGNS before the evolution of the second order of life was generated.
On the fifth day God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly moving creatures that have life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind.
"On the sixth day God said, Let the earth bring forth the living CREATURE after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind." This then is the guided evolution of the body being readied for the next step, the creation of mankind.. and God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."
I highlight the word creature above because the word, according to the Hebrew word for creature is "nephesh" translated soul in 2: 7. This implies that while the body of man was evolving the creature did have a soul, that is, self-awareness. similar to mankind. However, the difference between man and beast takes place by a unique creation that took place making man God conscious. "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." Nephesh. or soul, implies self-conscious life."
The bible speaks of a 6 day creation, however, there is proof that the earth is at least 4 billion years old, and perhaps 6 billion years in the total making. So, "A day with the Lord is as a billion years."
