Welcome, I am John Gregory and I would like to share our wonderful family with you. I have been a police officer for over 14 years. I began my law enforcement career as a Military Police Officer in the United States Army. I was stationed at USAADC Fort Bliss, Texas from 1978 until 1981. Some duties I was assigned during that time was security for the Space Shuttle Enterprise when she stopped at Ft. Bliss on the way back to NASA after her maiden test; guarding General of the Army Omer Bradley; and taking part in the security detail of the Cuban Refugee Project at Camp McCoy, Wisconsiin.

In 1986 I returned to law enforcement as a patrolmen with the Alice, Texas Police Department. I served with the department until March of 1990. I have many fond memories and left many a good officer when I moved my family to Alaska in March of 1990.

On June 12, 1990 I was sworn in as a police officer with the Soldotna Police Department. I was assigned to the patrol division and "hit the streets". I have recieved numerous training opportunities through the 9+ years with the department. I am a Level I Commercial Vehicle Inspector which authorizes me to conduct safety checks, including measuring brakes, on the "Big Rigs". I also am the department's breath testing supervisor in charge of training and certifying officers in the use of the DataMaster cdm breath testing insterment and with the departments preliminary breath testing equipment.

In February 1998, I was appointed the Acting Patrol Sergeant and proudly served in that position until July 1, 1998. I am a Primary Field Training Officer for the department and assist in teaching the new recruits all the training mandated by the State of Alaska and our department.

In December 1998, I was selected as the Soldotna Police Department's Uniformed Investigator. My new primary duties are to assist Sgt. Quelland with all felony investigations and also School Liason work.

I was certified as a D.A.R.E. Instructor on November 15, 1999. I currently am teaching eight D.A.R.E. classes in the three elementary schools in Soldotna. D.A.R.E. is a 17 week course taught to 6th graders by uniformed police officers. The course is a life skills class designed to give students the self-esteem neede to resist drug offers.

To relax at home and forget the struggles of maintaining public order, I enjoy fishing, golfing, and most other outdoor activities. I find there are few things in this world as peaceful as finding a quiet lake or stream and wetting a line.

When it is too cold for the outdoors, I enjoy messing around on my computer. I am in charge of the web pages for the Soldotna Police Department and the Soldotna Church of CHrist, where I am the treasurer. I also enjoy flight simulators on the computer like Microsoft Flight Simulator, Sierra's Pro Pilot, Fly the Ultimate Flight Simulator by Terminal Reality and any other I can find. I also enjoy collecting old coins, US Mint Proof sets, and coins from the Alaska State Mint. I also enjoy building HO scale railroad sets with my son.

I also enjoy caring for Prince John Gregorys Pride (aka:Prince) my pure bred St. Bernard. He is 8 years old and weighs close to 200 pounds! He has won awards for obediance in local contests.

My greatest joy came in 1987 when I met and married my wife, Sheryl. It was a very short courtship. But it has continued to be a long and prosperous marriage. I could talk for pages about all the wonderful things this great lady does. Suffice it to say she was the best catch I ever made and I wasn't even fishing.

Sheryl enjoys cooking, running a home day-care business, and ceramics! In her spare time Sheryl enjoys sewing and cross stitch. She is also a very good sketch artist (but she would not tell you that). Sheryl is an excellent photographer. She has taken numerous pictures of the beautiful area where we live and also the local wildlife. Visit her photo galleryto see some of her work.

Sheryl has always wanted a Pomeranian puppy. So this year I suprised her with two female pups from a local breeder. She has enjoyed playing with, grooming, and spoiling the girls. They are 9 months old now and are really getting their own special personalities. You can have a look at these pampered poms on their very on web page.

Sheryl is a strong supporter of homeopathic medicine and to that end uses all natural vitamins and supplements.

We are blessed with three wonderful children: Wendy (20) (my daughter from a previous marriage), Ashley (10), and Dalton (8).

Wendy has married and lives and works in a neighboring city.

Ashley is in Ms. Wimmer's 4th grade class at Sterling Elementary. She is truly finding school to her liking. Ashley enjoys reading, writing, and drawing. She also enjoys the Teddy Bear, Ty Beanie Babies, and porcelain doll collections her mother has started for her. Ashley was a member of the Soldotna Softball All Star Team that won 3rd place in the regional tournament last year and is looking forward to playing softball again this summer.

Dalton is our youngest child. His main mission in life is to keep the house and his mother in as much disarray as possible. He is a Nintendo-64 expert, mastering most games long before his father has an understanding of the joystick functions. He takes great pride in beating his parents and sisters in all the games. Dalton is also a Poke'mon fanatic and has the complete set of trading cards. Dalton is an outdoorsman, weather permitting. During the long summer hours, he is outside from the time he wakes up until the time he passes out; spending most of the time "building roads" with Tonka trucks and chasing small game with his slingshot, BB gun, and compound bow. The only time he comes inside is to report a moose or other large wildlife in the area. Here are a few snapshots of the kids.

We at the Gregory house would like to share some unique Alaskan experiances with you. So please take a look at our northern exposure.
