REST IN PEACE OUR DEAR FRIEND

Joseph Farquhar

-------------

--------------------------------------------------

I just wanted to mention how much I enjoyed my visit home in April to see the new field and a few games. Also, very much to be able to be part of the opening day and new field ceremonies. It was such an honor being able to throw out the ceremonial first pitch and get to see the team play on the field that many men envisioned over 30 years ago.

I want to thank Curt Baker, Moon's new Superintendant and Laura Schisler for inviting me to partake in the field's opening. I also want to thank my dear friend, fellow coach, and Moon Area HS Head Baseball Coach, Dom Santeufemio for all he has done for me, the Moon Area HS Baseball programs and the Moon Township Community. Also the staff and players. Special thanks to Austin Hoffman for catching my pitch. It has been a privilege and honor watching you, your brother, Brett and your sister, Chelsea growing up. As well as being dear friends of your parents, Tom and Jill for all these years.

I also want to thank and mention the Mason Prickett and Brian Shaffer for all their work on a Senior Project that was something I had wanted to do for many years. They put together a database of all the Moon Baseball Alumni and hosted the First MAHS Baseball Player Alumni Game. The game was held on Saturday April 12th, following the Moon Area Varsity game against Woodland Hills and former Moon Area Asst Varsity Coach, Tim Banner. The game was deemed a success and the money raised went to the Moon Area Pinch Hitter's Club (MAPHC) to purchase netting for the new portable batting cage. Also, because of the success, the MAPHC is planning on making this event an annual event. I truly hope so and look forward to being able to attend it!!!

Many former players attended including : Tim Bosley (1975), Greg Virgin (1977), Brian Farringer (1978), Tony Gallagher (1979), Mark Petro (1982), Phil Bondi Sr. (1984), Bob Quinn (1984), Curt Marino (1984), Dave Farquhar (1984), Aly Miller (1984), Dan Miara (1987), Jon Hower (1987), Kirk Peters, Mark Holst (1990), Joe Pass (1990), Scott Quinn (1990), Chris Lantzy (1991), Ryan Krane (1996), Dan Penberthy (1998), Dan Domenico (1998), Mike Hepak (1999), Derek Blyzwick (2002), Michael Ritter (2002), Steve Karaffa (2009), Paul Pitaro (2009), Curt Marino Jr. (2012).

MOOVIN' MEMORIES

BTW, do you need a great idea for a birthday/anniversary/graduation gift that will bring back memories for you and your family and friends forever. My wife and I have started a new business, called MOOVIN' MEMORIES , which if you were at this past year's baseball banquet you saw a photo slide show presentation featuring our Moon Area High School Varsity Baseball team in the 2006 and 2007 seasons.

We now offer this service to you. We can take any or all of your photos (digital, paper, slide, or 35mm film strips) and digital videos, add music of your choice and put it on a VCD or DVD for lasting and truly MOOVIN' memories. We can take your photos from wedding, family or class reunion, family, birthday, anniversary, or any occasion or activity and create a true keepsake that you and your family can cherish for generations. We recently just put together one for a friend who had a retirement party for a fellow employee and recieved nothing but praise. Maybe you would love to have a slideshow that shows your child from birth to graduation. You name it, we can do it.

You can contact us for more information and we will mail you our brochure. Mention that you saw this ad on the Moon Baseball website and save 10% off your purchase. Download our brochure (You must have an ADOBE READER to view this .PDF file) :

Moovin' Memories: Our brochure ready to view and print

PS : I also still have a few copies of the Moon Baseball 2006 and 2007 VCD slideshow available. Proceeds benefit the Moon Area Pinch Hitters Club. Contact me at the emails below for more info.

THANK YOU FROM ME, TO THE MOON AREA H.S. and COMMUNITY BASEBALL PROGRAMS and THE MAPHC

On Friday September 1st, 2006 in the lobby of Moon Area Senior High School, the place I graduated from in 1975 and spent a good portion of my life associated with what I consider one the best baseball programs in the state. I was simply without a doubt humbled, speechless, and overwhelmed by the honor I recieved. I was surprised when I recieved a citation from the PA House Of Representatives for my years of work with the Moon Area H.S. and Moon Township Baseball Association. The citation was presented to me by State Representative and fellow classmate, T. Mark Mustio (R-44th). Mark read the citation aloud in front of friends and baseball associates.

I would love to thank again all of you that made this honor possible. Mainly, Don Liskay (past president of the MTBA and current board member) and the Moon Township Baseball Association, Frank Sorosky (former MAPHC president and current Moon Legion Manager), the current Moon Area Pinch Hitter's Club board and membership (including Joe and Cindy DeAngelis and MaryBeth and Goldbach.) Also Dom Santeufemio for allowing me to continue to bring you updates on this website and being a great friend along with his wife, Donna.

I want to also thank Bill Moore, former Moon Area Athletic Director, for his support and encouragement over the years. His "Tiger Pride" was a source of inspiration and a true spark that renewed the competitive drive in the athletic department. Thanks also to current AD, Zach Kessler for continuing in Bill's footsteps.

I also want to thank Mr. Mustio for sponsoring this citation and presenting it to me in person. I apparently threw a monkey wrench into the MAPHC's plan to present it to me at the Moon Baseball Banquet in late June by not being able to attend. I again am very sorry and thank you for trying your best to make it one of the best days in my life. I am truly grateful, touched, and honored by what you have done for me over the years. God Bless you all. I can't thank you all enough.

I also want to thank everyone who attended this presentation, Don Liskay, Dom and Donna Santeufemio, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sorosky, Bill Moore, MaryBeth and Bryce Goldbach, Mark Mustio and his wife Marianne. Also later outside by Tommy DeAngelis, Phil Bondi Jr., and Brian Walsh.

Here is a great website, It is the West Penn Baseball Prospects. I was impressed by the amount of players they are pushing information out on for college/pros to look at. IN MEMORY OF RICH KRANE

This is something that I wanted to do for a long time but never seemed to get around to it. In March of 1999, a dear friend of mine and Moon Baseball's passed away. It has been over eight years since that sad day. I figured I needed to dedicate a page to him so that all will know him. This eulogy was witten in March of 1999. Rich Krane Field is real and very much a great place where are children now play. Here is the link my special dedication to that man. God Bless him and his family, wife, Joyce and son, Ryan.

MEMORIAL: In Remembrance of a dear friend, the late Rich Krane

TRIBUTE TO FORMER MAHS HEAD COACH, RAY BOSETTI

Would like to hear from our Moon Baseball Alumni

To all the alumni of Moon Area H.S. Baseball I would love to hear from and about you in the upcoming year. I would love to hear your stories, please Email me. I promise not to use your email for any commercial solicitation or massive spamming. This is a non-profit site. I do not accept any donations or draw any compensation for this website. I do however make suggestions sometimes as to where you could donate money, services, or voluntary help to. My favorite charity is the Moon Area Pinch Hitters Club (MAPHC) which you can contact the school's athletic department for information regarding them. The current officers names are listed further below on this page. This club is the main vein of revenue and support outside the Moon Area School District. In this day and age, funding is limited to our program. This club founded by some dear friends of mine and Moon Baseball has done a lot to make the program stronger and helped supplement it's on and off field success'.

OTHER SECTION 3-AAA PLAYERS TO WATCH IN 2010

THE MOON AREA PINCH HITTERS CLUB (MAPHC)

The MAPHC was founded in the fall of 1994 by several parents and coaches looking to do more for our children/players. The program's founding fathers - the late Rich Krane, Marty Kokel, Dom Santeufemio, Joe Marek and Marv Eicher banded the program together with the Club goals to provide a banquet to honor the athletes for thier service to the school & community. Along with the support and watchful eyes of then Head Coach Ray Bosetti and former AD Bill Moore, the club would take off and flourish. In 1998, the club was able to send it's varsity team to Florida for spring training for the first time in school history.

Now in 2012, WE are proud to say the MAPHC is still thriving and this, it's eighteenth (18th) year, through the leadership of new President Joe DeAngelis and current membership, we are again looking forward to send the VARSITY team to the WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS COMPLEX in DISNEY WORLD in ORLANDO, Fla. for Spring Training in 2012.

The MAPHC is working on the 2014 season.

It is a sad day in Moon Township this cold December morning. A dear friend and big fan of all Moon Area Sports, Lloy "Pappy" Lambing passed away. For folks who didn't know Pappy, he was a bus driver for the school district who drove our teams all over the to their games and matches. Pappy loved the baseball team and in recent years dispite his declining health could be seen sitting at the field watching our boys play. Pappy was at the dedication of the new field in April. According to Fred Cercone, arrangements have been made for viewing at Copeland's in Moon Township on Monday December 14th from 2-4 PM and 6-9 PM. I will add more as I get it.
