COVERAGE OF THE 1997 FRONTIERS AWARDS
At the Frontiers Awards on Wednesday, January 22nd, 1997 in London, England, the Storm received awards for "Best Song" and "Best Album" (for their second release "Eye Of The Storm"). The well attended and smoothly run show also featured live sets from Kevin Chalfant and Josh Ramos (they performed a special unplugged type medley of four Storm songs), Jaime Kyle (with Josh Ramos), Bone Machine, Freak Kitchen, Grey Lady Down, Sect. 8, Jean Beauviour and Oceansize.
The results from the Frontiers Awards listed below.
The awards winners were as follows:
- Most Promising Unsigned Band - Xenon
- Best Singer/Songwriter Album - Mark Spiro "Now Is Then, Then Is Now"
- Best Progressive Album - Spock's Beard "The Light"
- Best Hard Rock Album - Bone Machine "Disappearing Inc."
- Best AOR Album - The Storm "Eye Of The Storm"
- Best Overall Song
1. "You Wear It Well" Crown Of Thorns
2. "Don't Give Up" The Storm
3. "After The Love Has Gone" Ten
- Best Overall Album
1. The Storm "Eye Of The Storm"
2. Ten "Ten"
3. Tower City "A Little Bit Of Fire"
Other winners:
- Ten's self titled album took the prizes for:
Best Debut
Best Production - presented to nominees Gary Hughes and Mike Stone
Best Cover Artwork - presented to nominee Sebastian Kozak
- They were also the runner up in the Best Overall Album category and came third in Best Overall Song with "After The
Love Has Gone".
- Crown Of Thorns, who originally released their "Breakthrough" album on Now & Then won Best Overall Song with
"You Wear It Well".
- Now & Then won awards for Winner Best Debut, Winner Best Production, Winner Best Artwork and Winner Best Overall Song.
