The Surname in the Irish Connection is: DEVINE. They immigrated to Roxton Falls, Quebec, Canada. In 1885 they immigrated to Grand Bend, Stephen Township, Ontario where they remained. They were farmers.

THE CANADIAN CONNECTION

The Italians from the Aeolian Islands came to Canada in 1904. They were the FURANNA's and the BARCA'S from Lipari, Messina, Italy. They settled in London, Ontario. The FURANNA's were shoemakers, tailors, barbers and muscians, each owned his own business.

The Scots from Glasgow came to Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1908. They were the FERGUSON'S and the SCOTT'S. William FERGUSON moved on to British Columbia, Canada were he owned his own cattle farm. His sisters remained in Toronto. Thomas SCOTT worked as an electrician.

The Germans from Schneidermuehl came to Kirkland Lake, Ontario,Canada in 1930-1934. They were the ZANDER'S and the SPIEKERMANN'S. The ZANDERS moved to St. Catharines, Ontario in 1939 and lived at R. R. #4 were they owned a fruit and vegetable farm.

The French are French Canadians and we're still looking for their birth place. They lived in Roxton Falls, Quebec, Canada in the 1860's and then moved on to Stephen Township, Ontario Canada. They are the DEFORE'S.

The Irish are from somewhere in Ireland we're still looking for their birth place also. They also lived in Roxton Falls, Quebec, Canada in the 1860's and then moved on to Stephen Township, Ontario, Canada. They are the DEVINE'S.

The Polish are really German's born in Treptow, Poland in 1900. They are ZANDER'S.

The TIEDEMANN'S came from Germany to Stephen Township, Ontario in 1865. We are still looking for their birthplace as well. They were farmers in Stephen Township. Some of them moved on to Michigan and lived in Detroit and Port Huron during the early 1900's. Charles worked as a cooper(barrel maker) in the Detroit area in 1910.


THE AMERICAN CONNECTION

In 1919 Frank FURANNA, a tailor, and his wife Lucille, his sister Margaret and her husband Louis MARIN, a tailor, decided to leave London, Ontario, Canada and immigrate to Los Angeles, California. They stayed there for the rest of their lives. All four are buried in Calvary Cemetery, Los Angeles, California. There are a few FURANNA relatives still living in Los Angeles in 1998.

In 1960 Kurt Arthur ZANDER and his second wife Muriel Jean Jones and their 3 children Nancy Jean, Kurt Jr. and Judy Ann also decided to immigrate to Los Angeles, California and Kurt remained there until his untimely death in 1975 at 51 years of age. He was the owner of the World Inn Bar in Long Beach, California at the time of his death.
