I have removed the copy of the original (PAW) People Against Waste and (BESNA) Brother Ellis Society of North America PAGE, that was previously provided via a link here!
I do not want to help this person spread his message of obtaining "Free to Good Home" Dogs, Cats and other animals through classified ads for the purposes of using them as food and fur!
His websites graphically expain how to violate Federal Laws to obtain Random Source Dogs & Cats through false pretense and deceit, then further explain how to violate most State Animal Abuse and Cruelty Statutes by euthanizing these companion pets to provide food and clothing for your family.
I do respect the "Freedom of Speech" principles of individuals, however there is a thin line between "Freedom of Speech" and the Advocation & Possible Pratice of illegal and/or immoral activities that will cause harm to the innocent that can not speak for themselves, and provide other misguided individuals a reason to abuse our companion pets and other innocent animals through the name of christianity!
Brother Ellis and BESNA is just a drop in the bucket of the overflowing realism of companion pet and animal abuse in todays misguided society. However, eliminating it one drop at time and fixing the leaks through awareness, advocation, and positive actions will help keep the bucket from overflowing in the future!!

(THIS ONE IS FROM THE HSUS (HUMANE SOCIETY OF THE UNITED STATES)
To Those Concerned About the Brother Ellis / P.A.W. Website:
Thank you for writing to The Humane Society of the United States (The HSUS) regarding the Brother Ellis / P.A.W. web site. Over the past week and a half, The HSUS has been receiving a tremendous number of complaints from individuals concerned about this website. Although there is a good possibility that this site is a hoax intended to create a stir among animal lovers and activists, The HSUS is very concerned about this site. We have been consistently advising individuals to contact the Internet Service Providers (ISP's) to alert them to the P.A.W. site and to register complaints. However, although Brother Ellis' site has been removed by several ISP's, we are aware that the site continues to reappear on new ISP's.
In response to the complaints we have received, The HSUS has been documenting all information we can gather on Brother Ellis and the P.A.W. website and we are looking into what action can be taken. Please note that due to the large volume of correspondence we have been receiving regarding this site, we can no longer respond to individual inquiries. We ask that you only contact us if you know of a Brother Ellis site appearing on an address other than those listed below or if you have any information regarding Brother Ellis's identity or location.
The current Brother Ellis sites are:
http://www.geocities.com:80/CapitolHill/Parliament/1727/besna.html
http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/Parliament/1727/besna.html
http://homepages.go.com/~besna/besna.html
Please know that we realize how disturbing the content of this site is and we will make a concerted effort to keep you informed of any progress on this matter. In the meantime, we ask again that you please not respond to "Brother Ellis" in any way and please continue to contact the Internet Service Providers hosting the Brother Ellis site. In many cases, the site may be violating the Provider's Usage Agreement and will be removed.
Thank you for your concern,
Julie Shellenberger

(LETTER FROM THE AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR THE PERVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS (ASPCA))
Dear Ms. Myers,
We at The ASPCA share your anger and concern about the Brother Ellis website, which advocates the killing and eating of companion animals.
While internet technology has made a positive contribution to our society, it has also resulted in the rapid expansion of publicity for individuals who promote animal abuse. This is very troublesome to us at The ASPCA and we are exploring various responses to animal cruelty on the Internet.
Thanks to the active participation of web-users such as yourselves, the above-mentioned website has been forced to shut down and move a number of times. We appreciate your effort in contacting us, and would like to pass to you some general information on how to fight against this and other sites which you may encounter. Unfortunately, new ones appear every day.
In the United States, individuals have the constitutional right to Freedom of Speech and therefore, they may discuss and advocate for animal abuse on the Internet and in other public forums. If they go beyond words and speech and actually practice what they preach, animal cruelty is a crime in every state.
Therefore, The ASPCA encourages concerned citizens to write the various internet service providers which host these websites that advocate animal abuse. You can find the address of the provider by connecting with the following website: http://www.internic.com and inputting the address of the website. We also suggest that you contact local and national media organizations to make them aware of these sites. Finally, you may want to write the on-line providers with which you regularly do business to encourage them to screen their own sites and not allow websites which promote animal cruelty.
Furthermore, if you have concrete information that the individual has moved beyond words to criminal actions and you know the city in which this web-site creator lives, the most effective response remains with traditional measures. While the ASPCA is a national organization in many respects, our powers to enforce animal cruelty statutes are limited by law to the State of New York. We care, however, that acts of animal cruelty and neglect be addressed wherever they occur. In this situation, we would urge that you contact any or all of the following organizations and advise them of the facts of the situation:
("local" means based in the area from which the web-site originates)
1) the local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and/or Humane Society (which may have the power to enforce animal cruelty laws in the area);
2) the local city/county Health Department/Board of Health (because abuse of animals often involves unsafe or unsanitary conditions for humans);
3) federal, state and local taxing authorities (because operations involving cruelty to animals often operate without filing or paying taxes);
4) local law enforcement officials; and
5) local and national media organizations.
Please feel free to contact us again for support or with additional information. We truly appreciate your concern and efforts on behalf of the welfare of animals.
Sincerely,
The ASPCA Legal Department

(LETTER FROM THE PEOPLE FOR ETHNICAL TREATMENT OF ANIMALS (PETA))
Dear Friend,
Thank you so much for your concern for the cats and dogs that "Brother Ellis" encourages individuals to eat on his website for "Brother Ellis Society of North America" (BESNA), formerly know as People Against Waste (PAW). Due to your diligence and efforts, the website has been removed by several internet providers and may face the same fate on his current site.
We share your outrage over the thought of using cats and dogs for human consumption. Fortunately, unlike many other countries where this is common, there are laws in some states in the U.S. prohibiting the use of cats and dogs for food. Unfortunately, other animals just as deserving of consideration are not provided the sameprotection and are kept in horrible conditions on factory farms and trucked off to terrifying slaughterhouses.
Certainly, the use of any animal for food has dire consequences for animal welfare, human health, and the environment.
BESNA illustrates that the solution to alleviating the suffering of the majority of animals is simple: Vegetarianism. As more people become vegetarian, there will be fewer animals suffering, less pollution from animal waste on factory farms, more resources to feed the hungry, and healthier humans as the risk of heart disease, stroke, and cancer is reduced. In short, the animals and the earth will be better off.
The website is also a clear illustration of the potential dangers of "free to good home" ads. These ads are found in abundance in the classified section of almost every newspaper. Despite people's good intentions when placing them, these advertisements have proven dangerous to animals. Animal abusers frequently obtain animals through "free to good home" ads. Small animals such as kittens, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, and mice are often obtained through these ads to be fed to snakes or used as bait for training dogs to fight. "Bunchers" sometimes obtain animals through the ads to sell to research laboratories.
We need your help in getting the word out about the perils that can befall animals given away for free. Please contact the classifieds section editor(s) of your local newspaper(s) and ask that they print a warning ad at the top of their "pets" section alerting advertisers to the dangers of "free to good home" ads. In addition, please write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper(s) to alert readers to the dangers of "free to good home" ads and to stress the importance of taking the placement of animals seriously.
You can also help by contacting individuals who place these ads to warn them about the risks and urge them to properly screen potential adopters, charge an adoption fee and use an adoption contract. You can contact us at amyr@peta-online.org for written materials, including sample contracts, to provide to these individuals to help ensure the animal goes to a good home.
Don't forget to urge people to seek help from their local humane society, SPCA or animal shelter when placing animals. Feel free to modify and use our sample letter, or simply give these individuals a friendly call.
If we spread the word of vegetarianism and warn the public about "free to good home" ads, BESNA does not stand a chance, even if it finds a permanent site on the web. We also encourage you to continue to write to internet providers about BESNA and to refrain from visiting the website so that "Brother Ellis" does not get the satisfaction of watching his counter grow.
His current internet provider has a complaint form at the following URL:
http://www.geocities.com/main/info/company/contact/alert_form.html .
Please feel free to contact us for materials on vegetarianism or if you should have any further questions or comments. I can be reached at cema@peta-online.org. Thank you so much for your efforts and keep up the good work.
Sincerely,
Cem Akin
