So...here comes my spiel. Obviously, his favorite, or right up there if not, was Drain You. He mentioned countless times about how much he loves it, and it was originally scheduled to be Nevermind's first single (or was it second). Nevertheless, it ended up on the Teen Spirit single eventually and also appeared in a live format on the Come as You Are single. A live version was also included on Wishkah (which Kurt obviously had no say in), as well as Live Tonight Sold Out, which he conceived. This one was almost always played towards the start of every show from '91 onwards. Also, he played it alongside 2 In Utero tracks (both of which were probably written in the same time frame) during the 2/4/94 French TV appearance. Polly was definitely another fave. Without a doubt the oldest Nirvana song still in their set during their last days, this song has appeared on no less than FOUR of Nirvana's 6 official LP's, as well as the B-side to the In Bloom single and on Live Tonight Sold Out. It was played countless times on all of their major tours, as well. About a Girl seems to me to be a song he was rather proud of. Being the only intensely poppy song on Bleach, it was the only one that turned up 4 years later in their Unplugged set. Like Polly, it was played countless times on all of their tours, and appeared in live format on the Sliver single and the LTSO video. Also, a single was released, but I'm not sure if it came out after he died or not. Actually, I am sure. It came out after he died, but still, it may have been his idea. It also got showcased in several radio sessions. Pennyroyal Tea was definitely up there. He constantly said that it wasn't produced properly on In Utero, that it was supposed to sound like Nevermind did. He new it had hit potential, and eventually had it released as a single. This song had been around since 1990/91 at least, and unlike other songs managed to stay in their set until the end. He even took the liberty of performing it solo on their Unplugged performance. I know Kurt was proud of Hairspray Queen simply because of its weirdness. He obviously liked Aneurysm a lot, as well as Milk It (that's quite a bold step, putting that as the b-side to the first single from their obviously controversial album). I'm pretty sure he liked Sliver, too. Also, Been a Son, though not performed often after 1990, was also a fave of his for a while, and was included in several acoustic sets. If anyone has any thoughts, please feel free to post. Thanks!
