Castle In The Sky- Voice of Patzu
An Anglicized version of the 1986 Japanese cartoon Tenku no shiro Rapyuta. Patzu, the character that James plays, is a boy who is a lift operator in the mines, and is trying to prove to his father that he saw a flying island during a storm. This island, called Laputa (but the name's probably going to change) is rumored to hold fantastic wealth and technology. It will also star Mark Hamill as Muska.

Varsity Blues- Plays John "Mox" Moxon
Two Texas high school quarterbacks compete for attention from their fans, their family, and their coach (Voight) who is respected by the whole town for leading the school on a long winning streak, and this year it looks like they're headed to State. One is the first-string QB (Walker), driven by his coach; the other is the upstart second-string QB (Van der Beek) with an unusual playing style.

Harvest
America's farms are struggling to stay in business, and in Harvest, a small town makes the collective decision to turn to what may be the most profitable American crop, even more than tobacco: marijuana. Harvest is the story of what happens when a DEA agent comes to town to investigate this odd community program. Supposedly, James filmed this movie even before Dawson's Creek.

Dawson's Creek- Plays Dawson Leery
Set in a small coastal town near Boston called Capeside, Dawson's Creek tells the story of four teenagers as they struggle through adolescence. This is particularly true for 15-year-olds Dawson Leery (James Van Der Beek), an introspective dreamer and Joey Potter (Katie Holmes), a precocious tomboy unaware of her beauty. Best friends since childhood, they are about to enter that confusing time in life where nothing is the way it was and nothing is as it seems.
