August 22nd 1998

Yesterday was the best day of my life!! The Backstreet Boys concert was at the Moslon Ampitheatre which is in Ontario Place, which connects to the Canadian National Exhibition. We left home at around 10:30am and we got to Toronto around 12:00pm but the traffic was really hectic and it took us a good hour to find parking. I was with my mom, dad, friend Holly and her younger sister Sarah. We were meeting our other friends Elise, Christine and her two cousins but we couldn't find them anywhere. The whole place was packed. At 5:00pm we met up with our friends finally and at 6:00pm we started walking over to Ontario Place. When we got there, the security guard told us where to go because there was a HUGE line up for the people who had lawn tickets. So we went right in, and once we were in, we got in line with some other friends. About 10 minutes later, they let the people with lawn tickets in, and they just BOOTED it up the walk-way and into the Molson Ampitheatre! Then they let the rest of us in and we had all hidden our cameras because we thought that they were going to search us, but they didn't! So we got in, and we went to the booths that were selling merchandise. I bought an Aaron poster, a Brian poster and a Kevin poster. Then I got a 1999 BSB calendar and a hard-cover Making of Backstreet's Back colour picture book. Once all of my friend had bought their stuff, we started heading down this big ramp that led to the 100 section. Then I saw all these girls standing at this rail shouting "Aaron, I love you!!" And I ran over as fast as I could. There was Aaron, and there was a camera and a huge microphone hovering over him and I think they were asking him questions. Then he looked over at us and waved and smiled then ran away backstage. We were so close to him, but I didn't have my camera ready!! =( So then we had to go down even further until we hit the 100 section. The usher showed us our seats and they were SOO close to the stage, we all thought we were going to die. Then all of a sudden, Aaron that little tease, ran onstage threw his arms up and ran backstage again!! Everyone in there was screaming at the top of their lungs. I started crying, well actually, bawling. =) But again, we didn't have our cameras ready. Then we went to talk to our friends who were sitting a bit behind us, and they said that at the 2:30pm show that day that A.J. had hurt himself dancing and he had to go to the hospital and he wasn't performing at this concert. =( I didn't know if it was completely true or not, but I was still upset. We had to wait about an hour, then finally this guy came from backstage with a microphone and everyone started screaming again. Then ANOTHER guy came out and he whispered something to the guy with the mocrophone and then left. The guy with the microphone told us that A.J. had hurt himself dancing at the first show and was okay, but didn't think he could perform tonight because he didn't want to injure himself more. He had pulled his hamstring. That was a real disapointment because I really like A.J. and his crazy ways. But the guy told us that A.J. said he would make it up to us (how, I do not know). So anyways, the announcer guy said that there ws this great group from Britain (I think) that would be performing, and they were called Solid Harmonie. I had heard some of their songs before, because they're also on Jive Records. They sang 4 songs and then left. Then Aaron's two dancers came out. I screamed SOO loud. =) They did some little skit thing about the police being called and everything. Then they started dancing and then AARON came out!! =) He sang Crush On You, then Shake It. Then he said that they haven't performed this song since Germany, but they thought they'd do it for us in Toronto. They sang Crazy Little Party Girl. =) Me and Christine had these signs that read Crazy Little Carter Boy, How We Love U. =) He saw them, he looked over and smiled. During his performance he did a lot of cart-wheels and flips. It was really cool. I kept running up to the stage to get really close pictures. I went WILD when Aaron came on, because I used a whole roll of film (27 pictures) on him and didn't even know it! =) Then him and his two dancers left and we had to wait about 45 minutes for BSB.

But while we were waiting, one of Aaron's dancers, Darryl came out and he was walking around the 100 section. My friends got some pictures of him, but I stuck my hand out and he immediatly took it. As we were shaking hands, he looked me right in the eyes and said, "How are you?" I almost melted, I swear. I don't even remember if I said anything. He's the sweetest guy in the world. So anyways, I had some paper and a pen in my backpack and when Darryl came by again, he said "Hi" and I asked him if he could please sign an autograph for me... And one for my friend. He smiled and said "Sure". It was so sweet. Then he left, that was the last I saw of him, but then Tarzan Dan came around and once again I stuck my hand out. He took it and shook it and I was like, "Oh, cool!" =) Then the lights went out and everyone started chanting, "A.J! A.J! A.J!" We really wanted him to come out.

But then the BSB music started playing and they pulled the huge black sheet down and behind it was the Backstreet Boys' band. But there was another white sheet behind THEM and the BSB were behind that. So they pulled that, and I'm pretty sure they sang That's The Way I Like It first. I really can't remember. It looked funny though, because there were only four guys standing up there, and usually there's five. =( But then they brought out a cake for Howie D. and Kevin asked us to all sing Happy Birthday to him. So of course we did and then Howie blew out the candles and thanked us. Then they sang Hey Mr. DJ and half way through, Howie disappeared. After that song, everyone left the stage and then Howie came out to sing his solo. He brought a bouquet of plastic flowers and he sang My Heart Stays With You, which he said will be on the next album. He threw the roses out to the audience, and I ran up to catch some, but he only threw them out to the first and second rows. He didn't throw them out very far at all! =( But then Brian came out and they brought a chair for him and he sang That's What She Said and played his guitar. I cried then, because he wrote the song and it's so nice. =) Then Kevvy Kev came out and sang Nobody But You. His voice is SO nice. It's unbelievable. Then Nick came out, but he stayed on the huge balcony thing way up top and sang Heaven In Your Eyes. The screaming was SOO loud, but because we were so close we could still hear him singing. He was acting like he thought he was all cool, though. That's what I didn't like. Okay, then they came out and sang... Let's Have A Party, and Nick said that it's on the first Canadian album, and it isn't! Then I think they sang Darlin' and I'll Never Break Your Heart. Then they got the top hats on and sang All I Have To Give. I think I'm missing some songs, but they also sang We've Got It Goin' On and Get Down. Oh, and they did that spoof for Quit Playin' Games when the band screws up and the BSB play the instruments. That was cute. I had brought a beanie baby for no one in particular. It was a purple and yellow platypus named Patty. When they were singing one of their last songs, I ran up and threw it on the stage. I kept looking at it, because I was like, "Oh my God! My beanie baby is on the stage!!" And then I looked down at my camera to wind it. Then when I looked back up, Nick Carter had my beanie baby in his hands and he was smiling and looking at it!!!! I started screaming as loud as I could, and I was jumping up and down and going totally hysterical! I couldn't breathe at all, and I was screaming as loud as I could. Then they got into this dance move and he held the beanie baby on his crotch and was thrusting to the music and I almost wet myself. =) Then he tossed the beanie up on the higher stage where the band was. I started to contain myself. Then they sang As Long As You Love Me and then they showed parts of the Backstreet's Back video, and then they came out in coffins and started singing and dancing. It was great. That was their last song and then they held hands and bowed and then Nick ran over and picked my beanie baby up and they ran around the stage for a bit, then they all left saying that they loved us and that they would be back. =) I watched as Nick walked off backstage with my beanie baby in his hands!! Out of everything on the stage, he took my beanie baby with him!! That's when I screamed the loudest. I actually did major damage to my left eardrum! =( But it was the best day of my life, and I just wish that A.J. had been able to perform. I hope he's feeling better though! There were a lot of fireworks going and the special effects were spectacular. Between me and my friends I think we got about 10 rolls of film done, and we're all going to switch negatives so we each get all the sets of pics. It was so great, it was the best day of my life. I couldn't stop talking about it and I seriously think I wet my pants. =)

If you were at this concert and saw Nick with my beanie baby, I'd really appreciate it if you could e-mail me and let me know.
