BADFIC: Ten Years After (1/1) By Katrinka the demented A story inspired by the end of Once A Thief staring Chow Yun-Fat Beta reader: Who needs those when its bad! Besides this is art! Note: this is intently bad. Written after I saw the original Once A Thief, and read one too many "Scully and Mulder are married" X-File fics. I don't see why the godfather wouldn't send Mac and LiAnn to university, since he wanted them to be cultured. Rating: PG. for slash mentions. Archiving: Cool with me, just tell me about it. Disclaimer: I don't own Chow Yun-Fat, John Woo or any of John Woo's characters. I also don't own That nice little apron that Chow Yun-Fat wore at the end of the movie...and to think he played the "Mac" character! feedback: send all flames and nice comments to katrinka@flash.net "We'll be together forever," had been the promise. When Mac, Victor and LiAnn had decide to quit working for the director. So she thought they where dead. Happened before to Mac. They had income stashed away from all those heists that LiAnn and him had pulled off. In nice, untraceable Swiss bank accounts. There was only one drawback, LiAnn and Victor wanted to work. They set up a private security business. Living in Switzerland was nice, people minded their own business. No one even stared at three people living together. The melt of cultures reminded Mac of Hong Kong. Everything went well, until LiAnn became pregnant, with twins no less. It was decided that the less need in the company would quit, and became the stay-at-home parent. Mac pointed out that at least he had a degree, the godfather had insisted that his children be educated. So Mac Ramsey stayed at home with his kids. At least he hoped that one of them was his. That was one of the drawbacks of living in a triad. Who did the kids belong to? Really it didn't matter to him. LiAnn made a great mom. Even though she had always said she wanted to have a dozen kids. He didn't think she would actually try to have a dozen....okay, so there was only six, but sometimes it felt to him like a dozen. At least she didn't have to stay home. Cleaning, all Mac did any more was clean the house. Victor was a neatnick, so everything had to be perfect. It was *never* perfect enough for Victor. Mac wasn't fulfilling the bargain. The bargain, was what they called Mac's duties. If he didn't fulfill them, he was always reminded, he would be out of a house. He put a box of blocks on the shelf. While his back as turned, there was a loud crash, he turned. Little three-year-old Miku was crying. In front of her doll house, which was on the floor in pieces. Six year old Shun was standing beside her, looking a little *too* innocent. Shun was enough like Mac for Mac to know what happened. "Okay Shun, time out!" "But daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaddddddddddddddd." the boy protested, as he was lead to the chair. "But nothing!" Mac said firmly. "Daddy, dolly's dead!!!!!!!!" Miku sobbed. Mac turned to his daughter, he grabbed her favorite dolly. Then he picked up Miku. "Dolly's not dead! See I rescued her!" Miku didn't say anything, just cry harder. Mac glanced at the clock, Victor and LiAnn where due home in ten minutes. Victor would get mad......... dinner wasn't even near being started. He tried to center himself. Mac Ramsey had a life before this. Okay, so before he would have pounded Victor to a bloody pulp for even suggesting cleaning. He was a househusband, that was a life, he kept reminding himself. He did have spare time. Victor and LiAnn had watched thekids evenings while he got a Masters, then a doctorate in Chinese studies. So now he was an extremely well educated Househusband. If only he would be able to take that job the university had offered him.... but no, this was his life. LiAnn and Victor always reminded him, that he had to earn his keep. The door to the playroom opened. Sasha came in, followed by Victor and LiAnn. Victor lookedat the room horrified. Before he had a chance to say anything, Mac said. "Listen, I am sorry, I tried to clean....please don't get mad." "I'm not mad." Victor went over to him, and took Miku from him. Victor then looked at LiAnn, nervous. "We need to talk." LiAnn finally said, taking Miku from Victor. "Come down stairs." Victor said. "What about the kids?" "I'll take care of them, I'm their mother after all." LiAnn said. **************** Mac followed Victor downstairs. They went out onto the back patio. It was well shaded, no one could see them from here. There was something bothering Victor, there was no doubt about it. It was cold outside, about three inches of snow on the ground. There was no snow on the patio, Mac had shoveled it when the kids where taking a nap. "Tell me Mac, are you going to spend your life taking care of kids?" Victor asked, putting on his leather jacket. "I don't get a choice do I?" he moved to pick up some toys on the porch. Victor blocked his way. "Why the hell did you get your doctorate if you where going to stay home?" "We both know the truth. If I choose not to take care of the kids, I will loose you." he looked into Victor's eyes. "I can't live without you." "I couldn't forgive myself if you turned down your dream." "What are you talking about?" "The fellowship at the university!" Mac turned from Victor, he walked to the edge of the porch and looked out. "Who told you about that?" "The head of the department called LiAnn, to try to get her to convince you to take the job." Victor kept going on like an answering machine stuck on play. "He had no right to do that. I don't want to talk about this." tears stung Mac's eyes. "It's been years since I've seen the fire in your eyes. It returned when you went back to college. You found something you really enjoyed." Victor said relentlessly. "But to be offered a fellowship! You have to take it." So that was it, he was being thrown out. "Can I tell the kids bye?" "Where are you going?" "You said that if I was going to earn my keep, I had to take care of the children. If I get a job, then I don't keep my end of the bargain." he leaned against the railing, he couldn't help it, tears poured down his cheeks. "Why the hell do you think we let you go to school?" "School is different from work, you know the bargain as well as I do. I'm not allowed to get a job." "Mac, the bargain wasn't meant as slavery!" "I'm a slave, you know that. Just think of what you said. You "let" me go to school!" Mac wasbeginning to loose his temper. "Do you know how it's like, living in fear that you will come home and yell at me for the mess the kids made?" Victor moved to stand beside him. "Why the hell didn't you say anything?" "Because I didn't want to loose the kids! They all have your name! Your name is listed as father on the birth certificates! Damn it, I wasn't even asked!" "I never meant for you to be a slave. If it means anything, I'm sorry." Victor said so softly that Mac wasn't sure he heard him. "If you really want to take the fellowship, then I will stay home with the kids." "What about your job?" "I'm fed up with it." Victor shrugged. "From now on, I slave, you boss." "Now this has possibilities." Mac smiled slyly. "Can I buy you a collar?" Victor took a studded dog collar out of his pocket, he shoved it into Mac's hand. "Put it on me." Mac turned to Victor and put the collar around his lover's neck. "Now I am the slave...master." "You'll clean the house?" "Of course, if you take that job." "Shut up slave!" Mac growled. "Make me!" Victor challenged. His lips where pouted, just begging to be kissed. Mac shoved Victor against the railing of the patio, and kissed him hard.
