My Pirate Friend

by Phyllis Beebe

I have a friend who's a pirate
With a gold ring in one ear.
His eyes are blue
But when he looks at you
Your heart need feel no fear.

His ship is called The Sharon
His first mate's Mighty Max
He's sailed the seas
To the Celebes
If you don't mind stretching facts.

His smile is bright as sunshine.
His laugh a chuckle hearty.
His treasure's gold
Is of stories told
At every Pirate's party.

He doesn't wear an eye patch
Or a stumpy leg of wood,
But he's strong and bold
As pirates of old
And his deeds are always good.
