Dear Student,
Congratulations on your recent decision
to join the Libertarian
Party! It is my pleasure to welcome you.
If you have not already
received it, you should soon get an introductory packet
from the
National Office. Your first issue of LP News, our
monthly
newspaper, should arrive within the month. These
will be sent to
the address you put on your application, but if that
needs to be
changed, just call the office at (202) 333-0008 to give
them your
update.
Let me introduce myself and offer you
any assistance I can. I
am a friend of Josh Mercer, a fellow Hillsdale student
colleague
of yours. He asked me to help him make membership
in the LP
more affordable to students and I thought that was a
great idea.
I and several other leaders in the Libertarian Party
who value the
contributions of you and other students decided to establish
a
private fund to support student memberships. Our
$15 joined
your $10 to give your membership in the LP full voting
status.
In each state participating in this
project, I am teaming with
local LP members to support you, our newest members.
The
Michigan LP member who contributed to your membership
is
Bill Hall, of Grand Rapids. He is a member of the
Libertarian
National Committee and a long time activist in the Michigan
LP.
I would like to extend my offer to
welcome you into the Party
a bit further. Please consider this an invitation
to seek any
information or assistance you might need from either
Bill or
myself. Each of us feels grateful to the person
instrumental to
our joining the Libertarian Party. It resulted
in a life long journey
to better understand liberty, integrity, and personal
responsibility.
We would be honored to be someone you may look upon in
that way in years to come.
