On this trip we decided to drive up Tioga Pass road almost to the Yosemite National Park entrance station and hike up to Bennetville, a silver mining town from the late 1800s. There are two trails that go up to Bennetville. We decided to take the one from Tioga Junction Campground and it was a good thing we did, because as it turned out the trail that goes up from Tioga Lake was completely snowed in!

So we hiked up to Bennetville, about a mile, and then kept on going (off trail at this point) up the canyon, where there were three little lakes, Shell Lake, Fantail Lake, and an unnamed lake in between.
