DAVID COULTARD

Coultard was born in scotland on 27 March 1971 and got his 1st go at formula1 in 1990 when he test drived the McLaren-Honda MP4/5 Formula One car after he won the McLaren Autosport Young Driver of the Year Award..While testing with Williams, he was thrust into the hot seat after the death of Ayrton Senna and made his debut at the Spanish Grand Prix in 1994. The following season he won his first race, at Portugal, and went on to finish third overall in the title.

He moved to McLaren after being dropped by Frank Williams in favour of Jacques Villeneuve.In 1998 he conceded the 1st race to team mate Hakkinen and as Schumacher's assault on Hakkinen's title lead gathered pace, Coulthard found himself increasingly cast in the supporting role. Nevertheless, his win at San Marino and eight other podium appearances were crucial in guaranteeing the constructor's championship, and in 1999 he will be looking to further his own ambitions with more race wins. 1998 One race victory and six second places assist Mclaren's constructor's bid, but Coulthard himself can only manage 3rd in the driver's race. 1997 Victory in Australia and Italy sees him finish 3rd in the Drivers' World Championship with 36 points. 1996 Joins McLaren-Mercedes.
