GIANCARLO FISCHELLA

Giancarlo Fisichella began his career in Formula1 as a test driver for Ferrari before making his F1 debut with the Minardi team at the start of the 1996 season. He made eight appearances with the Italian outfit before moving to Jordan for the start of the 1997 Championship, where he impressed so much that Jordan and Benetton went to court to secure his services for 1998. Chiefly responsible for the best crashes of 1998, he managed 2nd at Monaco and Canada as well as an excellent pole position at Austria. As with the other Benetton driver, Wurz, the second half of the season was disappointing, and the exuberant young Roman will this year be looking to complete his first race win. 1998 Two second places and his first Career pole position. 16 points was only enough for 9th in the table, however. 1997 Finishes an impressive 8th in his first full season in F1 with 20 points. Finishes second in the Belgium Grand Prix 1996 After test driving for Ferrari he makes his Formula One debut with the Minardi Ford team, competing in eight races.
