Eddie Irvine in my books is a solid racer and given the right conditions can beat the very best. He in fact won the 1st race of 1999,the Australian gp.Irve the Swerve once again sacrificed his own ambitions in 1998 to further his team mate's prospects of a title. His skilful manipulation of this role brought him plaudits from across F1 as he proved a perpetual thorn in the side of the Mclarens, and an invaluable aid to Schumacher. Along with Schumi he provided Ferrari fans with their dream result - a one-two at the Italian Grand Prix, but later sustained fierce criticism from the same source when he failed to delay Hakkinen at Luxembourg.
