Hi, and welcome! My name is Ken Sterling and I live in Crisfield, Maryland on the Delmarva Peninsula. I've got the Chesapeake Bay on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. I've been interested in radio communications since 1958 when I built my first CB from a Heathkit. I was very active in Citizen Band communications for many years with the handle of Ten Speed. I became interested in Ham Radio Operations in 1993, and received my technician license in January of 1994, and have since upgraded to General. My call sign is N3SZJ, and to remember it I like to tell people N3 Sticky Zippers Jam. You can find me most often on two meters on 146.520 and forty meters at 7.285. My grid is FM 27. I do enjoy sending and receiving QSL cards from my contacts. When I'm not enjoying my radios, I am employed
with Bennett Security Service. Before Bennett, I worked for 39 years at a local business that
manufactured knives since the early 1900's under the name of Towle and Carvel
Hall. I am also a volunteer umpire for little league, an avid runner, and enjoy
photography and computers.
I operate a Kenwood TS140 with a Superloop 80, 160 meter dipole, 10 meter Antron vertical. I also have an Icom 560, with a Cushcraft 5 element horizontal beam and an Azden 7500, with a
Diamond vertical, and
an HTX404 for 440 band with a 6 element vertical beam. I have an ADI AR146 for 2 meters and in my
truck I have a Kenwood TM241A with a Cushcraft 5/8 wave antenna. I also operate
an Alinco twin band HT. I have a Yaesu 2100B linear for HF, as well as other
linear amplifiers for 6 meters at 150 watts, 2 meters at 160 watts, and 440 at 75 watts.
I have a room in the house aptly dubbed 'The Radio Room' where most of my
equipment is set up. I've also set up 'Studio B' in my den where I run a Radio Shack HTX202. I've enjoyed finding new and interesting links on the internet that support my radio hobby, and I'm sure that you will enjoy them as well.
