Kreations By Kira -- The Beginning

"I'm not an artist! I can't do anything artistic."

Well, that's what I said and then my friends, Marsha and Heffer, helped me celebrate my birthday and the 3 of us painted a t-shirt. I was so pleased with how much fun that was and how nicely it came out, that I decided that, even though "I couldn't draw", I could paint t-shirts. The shirts that I paint have simple drawings and look handmade and that is fine. I love wearing shirts that I have painted. I love expressing myself by painting t-shirts. Check them out HERE!

Earrings and other jewelry were different. My friend Susan and I were shopping in Ellicott City, MD, and we went into a store called "Beads and Things". They were offering a class in basic jewelry making, so we signed up for it.

After taking the half-day class, I was hooked. I have had so much fun playing with colors and shapes of beads. I buy my beads in bead stores and sometimes at flea markets or antique stores. Some of the beads are plastic, glass, and semi-precious stones. I like to buy old jewelry and take it apart and use the beads in new Kreations.

I make mostly earrings, but can do bracelets and necklaces and keychains. And I sell things that I make at local craft shows and to friends. I usually sell earrings for $8 a pair.
