Source Files

There's not much to get from here yet, but nevertheless, there's a lot to tell. First of all, here's a list of the things I'm working on to view or download from this page:

  • Tiling macro version 2
    Long awaited after the first release it is finally coming up soon in a complete rewrite and accompanied by an on-line users guide that is also included in the macro package. See below for more details.
  • Source files for images in the gallery
    There will be the possibility to either view the source (for those scenes that do not use include files) or download it, but since the gallery isn't filled yet, there aren't any source files here either.
  • Source for images on this site
    I've been asked for the source of some of the images on this site. In answer to these requests I'll make it possible to download the source of some of the POV-made images.
  • More macro's and include files
    Several macro's that I found useful over time will be posted here, as well as some include files containing nice models (for example Greek columns and books) or textures (like realistic marbles or sky maps).

About the Tiling macro: it already does its job nicely, but I'm still working on some more tile patterns and texturing options. One of the nice things about the second version is the possibility to include extra 'home-made' tile types. This also means that in time, you will find extra tile patterns available for downloading on this page. The features at the moment are (there might be some additions later on):

  • An area can be tiled with one pre-defined 3D tile type in a single macro call;
  • Hexagon and octagon tile patterns are now supported, including special texture patterns;
  • Extra options for brick patterns including texture randomising for realistic bricks;

  • By evading the 'difference' CSG operation, the rendering speed can increase greatly;
  • It is possible to use more than one texture to create checker-like texturing effects;
  • Default settings can be customised by declaring new values outside the macro call.

ASM (Asymmetrical Scaling Macro)

The Asymmetrical Scaling Macro is a very useful tool for scaling several parts of objects in separate ways, for example to create an egg shape by scaling a sphere asymmetrically. Object merging supported for perfect transparent objects.

Lens Macro

Create magnifying lenses with just two macro parameters: lens radius and thick-ness. Two example refractive glass materials included.

RoundBox Macro

Do you wish to use a box without sharp edges in a scene, but a superellipsoid isn't quite the thing you want? Try this macro to get some smooth edges without placing all those spheres and cylinders.

Random Macro

A macro shortcut for a mathematical calculation: input is a range (two different numbers), output is a random number in that range (i.e. smaller than the maximum and larger than the minimum).

MeshBox Macro

This small macro makes it possible to build a box consisting of mesh triangles, with an input of only two vectors (just like in the regular box object statement). Useful for exporting from POV-Ray.
