Hector and Malicia lived quite happily together. Since they both earned a fair income, the two decided to purchase an apartment condominium. Many evenings, they would enjoy listening to soft music or watching television in front of the fireplace. Still there were other times when Malicia preferred to relax in his favorite chair, reading a book. It was during these moments that he would hear a strange sound. It was very faint. He noticed the sound always coming from above the ceiling and within the same general area. It was very random. He tried to describe the noise to Hector as being something like a two second, "pearly hum". "What the hell is a pearly hum?" Hector asked. Malicia stated, "I don't know. It's just a.................pearly hum." Hector seemed confused. He asked Malicia how often he heard the sound. Malicia shrugged his shoulders and replied, "I don't know. Maybe once or twice a day. It's just so unpredictable." Later that week, Hector was making some banana nut bread when he realized that he needed more sugar. He went next door to borrow some but nobody was home. He thought about going to the store but then decided to check with the upstairs neighbors first. As he reached the top of the staircase, he noticed the drapes were open. Naturally, Hector glanced into the apartment. He saw a young man sit down on the living room floor. Then the man farted.
