...To Joe's Park

Hello, with my ideas, and a little html help from my mom, I decided to make a web page about
the sorry state of our public parks.

My name is Joe, I am 10 years old, and I am disgusted with the playgrounds of today. My homepage will hopefully, give kids like me, a few ideas on how we can clean up our playgrounds and make them safe for all children. It is everyone's responsibility to help keep our parks safe and clean. My message here is to tell everyone, no matter how young or old you are..."Stop messing up the playgrounds"

Don't you just hate it when you go to the park, and you can't play basketball, because the nets and hoops are gone. Or, worse yet, the courts are filled with teenagers, just hanging out. I go to the park, and see little kids crying because the swings are broken. My sister fell one day, in the middle of a playground surrounded by broken glass from soda and beer bottles. She could have been seriously hurt. Cigarette butts are in the sand boxes. Trash and garbage litter the ground where there should be trash cans. You can see graffiti, everywhere....the ball courts, the maintenance buildings, even on the sliding boards. Oh, and don't you love the piles of dog "poop" left behind by lazy pet owners, so that you can step in it as you cross the field.

WHAT CAN WE DO?

HELP CLEAN UP!
If everyone, who enters the park, picked up...just one piece of trash that they saw laying around, every park in America would be spotless. Even kids like us, can do that with no problem!

PARENTS: STAND UP FOR YOUR CHILDREN'S RIGHTS TO PLAY!
If every parent, who brought their child to the playground, said something to teenagers, or unruely kids who were doing something they shouldn't be, the parks would be much safer. It is everyone's right, to have a safe and clean playgrond and park. Speak up! Get involved!

TALK TO YOUR LOCAL POLICE!
Ask your parents, to contact the local police station in Your area. The police are happy to add an a few additional drive by's at night to ensure your park remains safe. Talk to the local "Community Watch" program. Civic safety, is what they are all about. And of course, if you are not a member...JOIN!

CONTACT YOUR LOCAL SANITATION DEPARTMENT!
The Sanitation Department, is always willing to lend a helping hand, especially if it makes their job, easier in the long run. Make a written request, to have additional trash cans, put in your playground today. Kids can't throw their trash away properly, if there are no cans around to do so. And...don't forget to "Stash your Trash"

CALL YOUR PUBLIC WORKS AUTHORITY!
These are the people who do the local maintenance on your park. They are responsible for keeping all the equipment in a safe and working order. If your park has broken swings, peeling paint, or anything that needs repair...Have your parents call them. A written request here, always helps too.
