Lost Lox

"Here, let me carry that," said Ludwig to Larry. Ludwig took a heavy plant from Larry’s arms and carried down the hall to Larry’s room, where he put it down nicely. Larry was too surprised to thank Ludwig, but Ludwig did not seem to mind.

It was like that for an entire week. Ludwig was acting unusually nice. This was so suspicious that Bowser did a mind probe on Ludwig to see if he had some kind of a secret plot, but Ludwig did not appear to have one.

After a week, Bowser decided that Ludwig deserved a reward. He bought Ludwig his favorite food, or at least after chocolate: lox. Lox was an expensive but tasty kind of a fish, and Ludwig loved it almost as much as chocolate.

Bowser was surprised when Ludwig did not eat his lox immediately, like the old Ludwig would. Ludwig put the lox in his safe and went off to the exercies room.

The other Koopalings were annoyed because they thought they deserved a reward for being nice as well. They all decided that they would try to steal the luscious lox.

That night, one sneaky Koopa Kid put his eye to a hole in the wall of Ludwig’s room. When another Koopa came to open the safe, the spy hoped to see the combination so that he would be able to open the safe later. Unfortunately, the other Koopa was so strong that he just rammed the safe and it broke open. The spy sighed and went back to bed.

The strong Koopa reached into the safe and stole the lox. The Koopa was just about to eat the lox, when two other Koopalings walked into the room very close together. The strong Koopa charged and knocked out one of the two newcomers, but the other Koopaling used a weapon to freeze the strong Koopa. The winner picked the lox up from the floor and was about to eat them, but then decided that the lox smelled bad. The Koopaling dropped the lox and left.

Another Koopaling walked by and saw the lox on the floor. He sighed when he remembered that he did not like fish. He searched the room for anything else to steal, but found nothing. Sighing, the Koopa left.

Another Koopa Kid who understood that fish could be important to an economy smiled with glee upon seeing the fish on the floor. The Koopa picked up the lox and was just about to eat them, when another Koopaling who also loved fish entered the room.

The new Koopa snatched the lox from the other Koopa and ate them. "Tasty!" said the Koopa.

Who ate the lox?
