The Star Wars movies are the wonderful creation of George Lucas. In addition to the movies, there are terrific books written in the Star Wars universe, in the years after the fall of Emporer Palpatine. I was inspired to create this design after reading the series of X-Wing books concerning the adventures of Wedge Antilles and the Rogue and Wraith Squadrons. Click here to visit the Star Wars Official Website. See you at the theaters May 16, 2002 for the Attack Of The Clones movie!!

Materials:
Worsted weight yarn (White)
Worsted weight yarn (Red)
Crochet hook size I / 9 / 5˝MM

Stitch Notes (American):
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (sl st)
Single Crochet (sc)
Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Yarn Over (YO)
Beginning (beg)

Gauge: 3 sc = 1 inch
Finished size: 12" to 12" (inches)

Notes: When necessary, work over unused strand to carry it along in work. In my sample, I worked over the unused red and white yarns while doing the alliance logo in the center of the pattern, but I did not work over the unused red yarn on the outsides of the logo so the red yarn would not show. Odd-numbered rows are read from right to left on chart and even-numbered rows are read from left to right on chart. Row 1 is the bottom of chart and Row 24 is the top of the chart. Each square on chart equals 1 sc stitch. White squares = white yarn; squares marked with an "X" = red yarn

Additional Notes: To change colors, work a sc with the old color, then, pull the new color through the last two loops to complete that single crochet. Always ch 1 and turn to begin each row.

To begin, ch 31.
Row 1: (With white) 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in each ch across; ch 1, turn (now and thoughout pattern). (30 sc).
Rows 2 - 4: 1 Sc in each sc across; ch 1, turn. (30 sc).
Row 5: 1 Sc in each of 1st 11 sc, (change to red) 1 sc in each of next 8 sc, (change to white) 1 sc in each of last 11 sc; ch 1, turn. (11 white, 8 red, 11 white).
Row 6: 1 Sc in each of 1st 9 sc, (change to red) 1 sc in each of next 12 sc, (change to white) 1 sc in each of last 9 sc; ch 1, turn. (9 white, 12 red, 9 white)
Rows 7 - 30: Continue pattern according to chart. At the end of last row, fasten off and attach red in last sc of Row 30, ch 2 (counts as beg hdc), turn.

EDGING:
Rnd 1: 1 Hdc in each sc across, 3 hdc in last sc (for corner), 1 hdc in end of each row, 3 hdc in 1st foundation ch on opposite side of Row 1, 1 hdc in each ch across. Continue in established pattern all around and join with sl st in top of beg ch-2.
Rnd 2: Ch 2, 3 hdc in next hdc, 1 hdc in each hdc across, 3 hdc in center hdc of corner. Continue in established pattern all around and join with sl st in top of ch-2.
(Optional) Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in each hdc around making 3 sc in center hdc of each corner; join with sl st in beg sc.
