The Alameda County Office of Education serves more than 10% of all public school children in the state of California, providing parents, teachers and students with resources to enhance educational performance. Working with Joan Davies,
Director of Schoolwide Support Systems, The Liberty Group performed the following: editing/executive summary development of Engaging Parents in the Learning Process, a comprehensive action report developed through a survey of 24 Alameda County District Superintendents creation of Parent's Rights Handbook for students facing suspension and/or expulsion from a public school editing and Web-publishing of Bay Region IV School Support and Improvement Center newsletter

Team O'Neill Sea Odyssey Adventure, Santa Cruz, California
Team O'Neill was founded in 1963 by Jack O'Neill (founder of O'Neill Wetsuits) to provide fun and excitement for the sailing and surfing community. In addition, Team O'Neill provides a unique, hand-on experience for school children through a two-hour guided sail around Monterey Bay, free of charge for those schools who perform a community project. The Liberty Group helped Team O'Neill: create a mission statement for the Sea Odyssey Adventure establish a non-profit organization to support future projects write a practical, hands-on curriculum for teachers and students to prepare for the learning experience

Center for the Study of Human Rights, New York City, New York
Established at Columbia University in 1978 to promote the teaching and research of human rights in their national and international contexts, activities of the Center cover all disciplines and address both theoretical and policy questions. Working closely with Dr. J. Paul Martin, Director of the Center, The Liberty Group performed the following activities: development of a survey instrument for 100 program alumni
information analysis and policy recommendations
development of executive summary for Ford Foundation evaluation

Office of Student Life, Teachers College, Columbia University, NY, NY
The Liberty Group provided organizational consulting and advised on an upgrade of the student paper at TC, enhancing community awareness of key issues during a restructuring process implemented by TC President Arthur Levine. As TC students, Liberty Group consultants: provided editing and publishing expertise, and empowered the student journalists who eventually took full charge of the operation themselves assisted the Office of Student Life in setting up a budget that upgraded the publishing resources available to the staff of the student paper sponsored community forums for communication between students and administration during the restructuring process stimulated similar TC publishing ventures to further enhance the communications network at TC (see TC News Bureau)
