What is OCD?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), one of the anxiety disorders, is a potentially disabling, but treatable, condition that can persist throughout a person's life. The individual who suffers from OCD becomes trapped in a pattern of repetitive thoughts and behaviours senseless and distressing but extremely difficult to overcome. OCD occurs in a spectrum from mild to severe, but if severe and left untreated, can destroy a person's capacity to function at work, at school, or even at home. If you're worried that you may be suffering from Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, please visit the questionnaire found in the section titled, "Do I have OCD?", as a helpful resource in determining wether or not your suspicions may be correct. Please keep in mind that though this method is not 100% accurate, it is highly recommended. Although most everyone does engage in certain rituals as part of normal human behaviour, it is when these activities begin to interfere with daily life, that OCD is to be considered as a possible source.
