We present this section as a memorial to those brave and true Canadians who left the country of their origin, allegiance and loyalty to offer their courage and spirit to the United States of America in the Civil War; not for profit or notoriety (although they may have benefitted as such), but to serve a cause they believed in with their hearts and souls. They made a commitment to fight for their beliefs in a war they adopted as their own. We invite your comments, suggestions, and additions. Among the many Canadians who participated in the American Civil War were four brothers from one family in WOLVERTON in OXFORD COUNTY, three of whom were at school in Cleveland Ohio when the war broke out. They did not conceal the fact that they wanted to make money to finance their return to school in the autumn, by which time the North was confident that the rebels would be defeated and life would return to normal.
