The Outskirts were, without a doubt, the pioneering band
of the scene. They formed in 1995, and began shakin'
like bacon right away! Sergey Slipachenko, Adam Morano
Aaron Hope and Matt Parker began playing a whole new
sound of Noise Pop under the influence of bands such
as Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine. Sergey's unique
vocals and lyrics were also a great asset to the band.
In March of 1996, the band began recording their first
album in Blu-Rume studios. The result, was Apple Dancing.
A collection of 9 low-fi, noise filled pop songs which was spread around Barrie. The hit single "ache" was played for the first time one fine April morning in the school lecture hall, and the girls went crazy! What followed was two months of super-stardom, followed by a subsequent washed-up rock star period which led to the band's demise...ah rock and roll, how fickle a monster you can be.
