f a m i l i a r p l a c e

waking from the reoccuring dream
that holds your complexion
listening to your eyes
exactly as i am right now
in our familiar place

this parking lot
hold the entrance
to a vast collection
of our past

so many moments
spent in silence
leaving my mind to wonder
as it always does

i pause for only an instant
time wanes
until it has caught up with me
once again foreclosing
contiunnm of now

careening through the lucid glass
where all that lies outside
is all too visible

i want to remain in this booth
surrounded by your words
until the fluidity of them
is something i comprehend
or may just a little while longer

i want to remain
behind these doors
where i first met your eyes
where we spent interminable hours
alone together
where we transmitted integrity
despite the shrouded air
between us

i squint my eyes
to block the smoke
we have both created
that fills this room
reaching for the door
beyond which things are much clearer.
