A New Beginning

Tokyo Bay, Japan. The U.S.S. Retriever, repaired and ready to go out, sits in waiting. Inside the conference room, Captain Bowser proudly looks over the faces of his senior staff.

"Well done, all of you." says Bowser "This ship is even better than before. Now then, let's get on with introductions of the new crewmembers. Emerald?"

"Yes sir. First off, our new helmsdog, Seamus." A male Golden Retriever.

"Missile room commander, Hotshot." Male Doberman

"To accompany Slide in our new mini-sub, Pandora." Female Bernese Mtn

"Even though he was next in line, Maverick will not accepted the position of Flight commander. Therefore, on his recomendation, Sidewinder (F G. Shepherd) will take over the position."

"Thank you Emerald." says Bowser "Now as for our Marines, we have gained another squad for the ship. Lieutenant Tex McCoy was, a week ago, promoted to Captain. T-Bone to Lieutenant, Cobalt, to Sergeant, and Brody to corporal. I should also point out that Tex and Cobalt were married just after their promotions by me, in a private ceremony on the same day."

The entire room applauds.

"Now then, our new squad is commanded by Lt. Frodo (M Curly-Coated Retriever), Sergeant Mojave (M coyote), and Corporal Sadie (F Siamese). Sidewinder?"

"Yes sir. Maverick, your old designation of Mutt Leader stays, and Akira, you are now Red Dog Leader."

"Anything else?" says Bowser

"Yes sir." says Firebird "I would like to point out that myself, Chucky and Santiago, will be leaving the ship next month to take on teaching positions at the Rover and Strayer academies."

"I see. Well, good luck in your new positions. Anything else? No? Then please join me on deck as we shove off. Dismissed."

Bridge, the crew is at their stations when Bowser enters.

"Attention on deck!" says Emerald

"At ease." says Bowser "Mr. Seamus, take us out to sea."

"Aye, aye sir."

As the Retriever sails out of Tokyo Bay, crewmembers line the ships sides, dressed in their navy finest and salute the American flag, as it's hoisted up.

The Retriever is seaworthy once again!
