THIRD EGYPTIAN PAGE OF WONDERS

THIS PAGE IS DEDICATED TO ME.........SORRY, HAVE TO BE GREEDY AT TIMES.....BUT THIS IS ONE OF MY HOBBIES, COLLECTING EGYPTIAN IMAGES. I have several books on the subject with many beautiful pictures that I scanned up to the computer for this project. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have. This is not the entirety of my collection. I could make 10 more pages on the subject and still not be done.

PLEASE EXCUSE THE LENGTH OF TIME FOR THE PAGE TO LOAD. Some of the graphics are very extensive and large. But I think the time is worth it.

The First Dynasty of the Egyptian Kings started in 2920 B.C.. Many, many years ago! They went all the way through until the year 565 A.D.. The Cleopatra in the movies is from the Ptolemaic Dynasty. Most of the kings married relatives. No wonder. Most of the gods and goddesses married their children. Incest was not a concern thousands of years ago. No one realized the complications of birth defects then. If I have this right........the geneology of the gods and goddesses goes something like this..........

Ra is the father of the gods, also called Re and Phra and king of the gods and son god. Ra was father to Shu and Tefnut. Eventhough they were brother and sister, they got married to each other. Shu and Tefnut had Keb and Nut. Keb is also called Geb. Geb is the Earth god and Nut is the sky goddess. Geb and Nut were twin brother and sister, but got married to have Osiris and Isis and Seth and Nephthys.

Got that so far?

Well......the story goes on.......Osiris is also called king of the dead. Seth is also called Set andd Suetekh. Nephthys is also called Nebhet. Osiris and Isis were brother and sister, but got married and had Horus the infant also called Harpacrotes and called Harsiesis. Evedently, Osiris decided he wanted an affair with his other sister, Nephthys. They had Anubis. In the meantime, Ra decided he liked a goddess names Hathor. They had Bastet and Taurt and Horus the Elder and Ihy and Maat. Bastet is also called Cat and Bast. Horus the Elder is also called brother to Osiris and called Haroeris.

Very confusing. But depending on what part of Egypt you were from at the time, was what each god or goddess was called and what they could do and who they were related to and how. I will not go into that here.

Page down for some more of this story.

CONTINUING ON WITH THE GENEOLOGY OF THE GODS AND GODDESS OF EGYPT!

Now.......Ra and Bastet, remember them? They are father and daughter but got married to have Khensu aand Maahes. Hathor, remember her? She married Horus of Edfu and they had Horus the Younger. Horus the Younger is also called Harendotes and called Har-pe-neb-Taui. Horus of Edfu is also called Horus Behudety. If you add Ra and Horus together as now being one god, they are called Raharakhte, as one area of Egypt did. Still confusing. But according to our bibles, Cain married his sister, and Able married his sister. That is all about the same time frame.

To continue.......Khepri is also called Khepra and Khepera. He was self created. If you add Khepri and Horus together, you come up with Harmakhet. Same idea as above. Ammut is also called Amam and called Am-mit. I do not know where he comes in here. Seth, remember him? Well......he married his sister, Nephthys, but they did not have any kid gods or goddesses. But Seth and Taurt got married. Taurt is also called Taueret and Ta-werat and Thoeris and Rert and Reret. Then comes another group of gods. Neith and Khnum got married. They had Sobekk and Isis and Horus and Osiris and Ra and the Pharaoh called Nectanebo II. Khnum is also called Khnemu and is self created. Sobek is also called Sebek and Sebek-Ra and Sobk and Suchos and Sobki and callled Soknopais.

To continue.......Maat and Thoth got married. I do not know about any kids. Thoth is also called God of wisdom. Mut and Amun got married. I do not know if they had kids. I do not think the dynasties lasted long enough to create more kids for these other gods. Amun is also called Amon and Amen and Amen Ra and Amon Re and is self created. Mut is also called Queen of the gods and mother of all gods and is bisexual. Silene is the moon goddess. All in all, many gods and goddess and a long heritage. I hope I have this all right. It took many hours of study to figure it out.
EGYPTIAN SPLENDOR TO CONTINUE

OF COURSE, I through in a few Easter graphic lines and bars to throw everyone off. Easter is not until later next year, but it breaks up the constant Egyptian pictures to clear the eyes to be able to see more clearly the next images. Sort of like cleaning the pallette after tasting many different types of wines.

I will be making some more pages soon. The next one will be one frogs and dedicated to my daughter. She loves frogs and has many pictures of them on her walls. Stephani is a multi-talented grown woman that still has some growing to do, as we all do.

EXPLANATIONS OF SOME OF THE GODS AND GODDESSES

Seth was Lord of Upper Egypt. He was god of wind and storms. He married his siter Nephthys. He was brother to Osiris. Seth questioned the authority of Osiris. Seth was considered an evil god. He sometimes takes the form of a crocodile.
Geb represents earth. He reclines under his sister Nut the sky goddess. The royal throne of Egypt is also considered the 'throne of Geb'. He looks like vegetation. He represents mountains and valleys.

Isis is the only goddess that was carried throughout the entirety of Egypt and considered great. She was even considered a goddess in Greece and Rome. She was a dutiful wife and mother. She was also called the protector of the dead. Isis is a winged goddess that represents the wind. She was also a goddess of magic and medicine. She was an embalmer and guardian of Osiris. She is uusually pictured on coffins of the dead in Egypt.

Osiris was the king of the gods and supreme god and judge of the dead. He wore a white double crown. He was the symbol of resurrection and eternal life. He was considered to be the provider of fertility and wealth. His double crown was called the Atef crown.

EGYPTIAN ARTIFACTS ARE MY PASSION

OVER MANY YEARS, I have come to the realization that all of us must have a passionate hobby to take us away from the every day life of problems, strife, and death. Eventhough, the Egyptian life and afterlife, centers on their death and pathways to the next rhelm, I continue to be intrigued by the awsomoe knowledge a primative nation and culture displayed. I hope I have brought you some of that.
