Background Information:

Valletta was founded by Grand Master Jean Parisot de La Vallette in 1566.
It lies on a peninsula towards the East of Malta, and is surrounded by fortifications which are one of the finest in Europe. Valletta consists of a grid of streets with a square - Palace Square in the middle. There is also St. John's Co-Catedral which is a very fine baroque cathedral designed by a Maltese - Girolamo Cassar.

Valletta can boast of many other wonders of architecture including Knights' residences - Auberges, churches, and various Museums, the Manoel theatre, and a library from the time of the Order.
Though it has been damaged during WWII, Valletta has been able to maintain its character - purely Baroque - throughout the whole of its history.
Malta's capital city is a cosmopolitan city, a successful European Project completed by from many European countries, basically, an "epitome of all Europe" !!
