Chinese Scientists Find Earliest Animal Bones In Northeast

DATELINE: Shenyang, April 10: a group of scientists recently uncovered the bones of a 130-million-year-old animal in Shenyang, the capital of China's Liaoning province. The remains were identified as those of a mammal from the most primitive age of development. The 13-centimeter skeleton is similar to that of a mouse and some features of a duckbill or a marsupial, and its tooth structure is quite similar to today's animals, scientists from the academy of sciences say. They explained that mammals began to increase in number some 65 million years ago and before that were quite rare at a time when the earth was dominated by dinosaurs.
