Mind's Eye Theatrical Association, or META, is an organization on the campus of Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. Our members are college students from all different backgrounds and areas of study, and our guests are individuals who aren't enrolled at SHSU but want to join in the fun anyway. We get together every weekend to play games, have fun, and let our imaginations be have free reign of our actions for a bit. We've found our weekly meetings are very much needed to relax and forget the pressures of the real world for a little while... a great way to start the weekend! META is associated with and sponsors a local chapter of The Camarilla, and several local chronicles of One World by Night international organizations that share similarities to our own group.

So what do we do that is so much fun? We perform improvisational theater, or Theatre Noir. Each member creates a character to play, and then everyone acts out the character they created within a given setting interplaying with other characters. Each character has goals his/her creator gave him/her, and no one knows what anyone else is planning on doing. If everyone plays their character, and interacts with the other characters, the game quickly becomes intricate and intriguing. On top of it all, it's just fun to pretend you're someone you're not for a little while.

To add a little more fun and creativity to the atmosphere, almost none of the characters are normal human beings. Most of the characters are creatures based on White Wolf's series of Live Action Role Playing (LARP) games. Characters have been (and are) everything from vampires, werewolves, changelings, faeries, and mages, to just about anything else you can think of. What you play depends on the story you're a part of and what other characters you interact with. Allowing youself to slip into a world of myth and folklore does wonders for your mental health!
