Vampire: The Masquerade

The first game META members decided to focus their meetings around when META was formed was "Vampire: The Masquerade." Other venues and organizations have been entertained as well as worked with, including Werewolf: the Apocalypse, and Changeling the Dreaming, all of thses are currently being devolped or run by the triad.(META + Camarilla chapters + OWBN chapter = the triad).

"The Masquerade" focuses around the popular folklore of immortal creatures that drink blood to survive... vampires. These creatures were created when Cain was banished to the Land of Nod and cursed by God for killing his brother, Abel. Cain, in his loneliness, created other damned creatures like himself, and began an entire race of Kindred (what the vampires like to call themselves).

Because of incidents like the Inquisition, some groups, or clans, of Kindred have pulled together to form the Camarilla, an organization that strives to keep the Kindred a secret from mortal society and to protect its members from being hunted and destroyed. The Camarilla began the Masquerade, a system that offers guidelines to blending in with mortal society and avoiding discovery. These guidelines include not using supernatural powers in public view, covering the evidence after feeding, and aiding your fellow Kindred in keeping the Masquerade.

A few clans of Kindred (and individuals as well) oppose the Camarilla, and have grouped to form a formidable organization known as the Sabbat. The Sabbat thrive on violence and carnage, and would rather dominate and rule the mortals rather than blend in. They are a major thorn in the side of the Camarilla.

Other clans are independent, supporting neither the Sabbat nor the Camarilla openly. These groups tend to follow their own aims, walking the line between the others, and playing both sides to obtain their goals.

Within this framework (the above is just a very loose outline), the game is played. Characters are created, allies and foes made, and a plot line developed. Facets of the Triad play "Vampire: The Masquerade," "Werewolf: The Apocalypse," or "Changeling: The Dreaming" most weekend nights at the Old Main Pit on the SHSU campus, starting at 7 p.m. and continuing until everyone is ready to go home (about midnight). Feel free to stop by and try it out, or just watch if you'd like! The more players we have, the more fun the games are!
