I was fortunate to be able to build a palatial estate house modelled on a centuries-old Moorish design that is used throughout Spain. It's well-suited to the part of Texas where I live, particularly since it has 24" thick adobe walls which provide excellent insulation. It really helps me save on air-conditioning bills!  They don't build 'em like this anymore!
  La Casa de Mewk, aka
"El Castillo".

This particular design represents a tradeoff between the aesthetic statements of some of my favorite architects, such as Richard Neutra and Le Courbusier, and the need for economy and functionality. In the end, the best thing is that it all works, nothing's wasted, so it succeeds admirably in terms of utility.

Inside this stolid edifice are to be found all the modern conveniences, plus the odd technical accoutrements which comprise my research facilities. An added benefit of its construction (not to mention the secluded location) is the fact that I can play music as loud as I like without worrying about waking up the neighbors.
