On the campus of San Diego State University on May 23, 1978, Mu Iota Chapter was organized as a city wide chapter to carry on the great traditions of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority in greater San Diego. Mu Iota Chapter continues its legagy of greatness on the campuses of USD, UCSD, and SDSU .

    Mu Iota continues to serve the community through the many annual programs and service projects. Annual programs Mu Iota hosts include: The Tribute to the Black Man, Greek Mixer, African Cultural Dinner, Black Expressions, and Pink Ice. Mu Iota is involved in many service projects. One of its current project is a partnership with Nubia Leadership Academy, a local chartered elementary school. Members volunteer their time for mentoring & social activities

    As Mu Iota continues, it will address the many areas that plague our communities, through the guidance of our national goals. Mu Iota's legacy will continue on and be a positive force in the San Diego Community, blazing new trails....
