As I entered this small museum on a nondescript street in Florence,..................

......and turned to my right..............

.......this was the first view I had of the Michelangelo masterpiece called "David"............

.......so I grabbed for my camera which was dangling around my neck.............

...........and snapped this photograph!!!

As you can see by the size of the people in front of it, it stands on a pedestal about 6 feet high.............and then the statue itself stands about 13 1/2 feet tall.

You can also see that at the time I went to Florence, David was not yet placed behind any protective glass like the Mona Lisa painting.

So I discretely reached up and touch the toe of the statue.

I don't know why I did this, except maybe to make it seem more real to me (?!!!?)

Well, I don't know, whatever the psychological reason was........ at least I did something like that then; because these days it is now behind protective glass, because some fool bashed the foot of the statue some time after my visit to Florence.

So, now because of this sick individual, this statue, and most other precious works of art anywhere in the world, unfortunately are now protected from the public by thick impenetrable glass, (fortunately now for the works of art themselves).

Isn't this just so terribly tragic!

Oh well, I guess it's just a sign of our turbulent times, and an indication of the chaotic and disruptive state of the world we live in!!!

The second photograph is, of course, a close up of the masterpiece!!!

By-the-way, did you know that the other artists of the time rejected working with this slab of marble, saying it was too flawed to be able to create anything with.

Well, look what our boy Michel did with this "flawed" marble.

Turned out to be one of the most magnificent and reknowned pieces of artwork in the entire world!!!!!

Attaboy Michelangelo!
