The above is a wide angle (135mm telephoto) shot of M101, Mizar, Alcor and Eta Ursa Major. Mizar and Alcor is the bright binary pair in the lower right corner. Eta Ursa Major is the bright star near the left edge of the photo. These are the last and second from last stars in the handle of the Big Dipper (farthest from the "dipper"). M101 is the smudge right of center near the top edge of the photo. It forms an almost equilateral triangle with the Alcor/Mizar pair and Eta Ursa Major. You can just make out the spiral structure.

This shot gives a good perspective of M101's size and location. I was really amazed that my $30 telephoto actually could show spiral structure. I'm looking forward to doing more with this lens.
